Interest Check: Monster School Slice of Life with Optional Smut Friendly Prompts

Hey anons, we're at the middle of planning for a game idea but before we bother fleshing out more details, we're doing an interest check.

Characters are called from their worlds by Midnight Monsters Consolidated, a group of creatures whose duty is to make sure that the multiverse has enough monsters to keep itself running. While this may seem like a noble goal, the truth is that they are poor planners and even worse with tools than the budget that was given to them. Because of this, characters can't return home once summoned, or at least not until they manage to fix their multiverse machine problem. Instead they must learn to control their new powers in a run down school environment. We're planning this to be slice of life with a little bit of plot and optional smut prompts to keep things interesting.

- Characters arrive without their powers. Non-humans do not need to be turned human, but there will limited to eight feet in height.
- Characters will be sorted into one of the five clans in a ceremony a week after their arrival
- The clan will determine what type of monster you can pick from
- This way we allow players to have some degree of control about what monster they can pick, but also have an element of surprise based on the monster clan they are given
- Monster transformation will be gradual over the span of a few months

- The first few months will take place in the school along with a town area of creatures who have lived alongside the school for millennia. Eventually there will be more places and worlds opened
- While characters lose their powers, they will be able to regain some of their abilities as the game goes on, instead of gaining additional monster-related powers
- We want the game to be more slice of life, with a comedy horror tone. It's not meant to be taken too seriously
- While the game is not centered around sex, some logs will include prompts for it as well, but purely optional

Hello hello! So I recently blew the dust off Ultron here and I'm keen to bounce him off some peeps. Who doesn't love a villainous robot for some shenanigans? I'm up for anyone and anything, but I especially would like Tony because angry robot son at his dad interactions are always fun, Bruce, since we didn't really get to see too much of how he felt about his other creator in the movie, and Vision for some birds of a feather moments. Wanda and Pietro too for some angst or a softer side to him.

Also, if anyone who plays Tony is interested, I would ADORE a long-term PSL where through handwaving he ends up in a human or partially human body and then has to cope with everything.

I can play either role, most likely with an OC who has a dominant personality. anons, do you think the length of a tag is indicative of interest?

i had someone tell me that they didn't feel that i was as interested in our thread because my tags are usually only about half the length of theirs. but i'm very interested in our thread! i wish i could express that without beefing up the length of my tags.

tell your rp partner that if they have a problem with the *content* of your tags - ie, if the shorter length means there's not enough hooks, or the writing is so curt it's uninteresting - then they should give you crit you can work on. if it's purely a wordcount comparison issue? they need to stop projecting their insecurity onto you

I used to feel horrible if I didn't match my RP partner's tag length and you know what? I used to drop way more threads because I didn't *always* have that much to say. I'd write a perfectly good tag and then stall out nervously trying to make it bigger with nonsense that wasn't any good, because it was unnecessary

if you are consistently tagging them back with engaging writing, that is proof that you are interested.

I'm not deny that they might genuinely feel unappreciated, because anxiety brain is not logical, but that's a problem they need to work on (with encouragement and support from you, IF you are willing to give it/think it's reasonable), and not a feeling you should be enabling

more of: eachdraidish-ish stuff that, at least partially, delivers on the open world/adventure premise. i LOVE having my characters go on quests so any games that make use of this mechanic are a thumbs up in my book.

less of: lost raiders, el nysa, duplicity, or really any games with shallow you can do/fuck anything premises (and indiscernible genre that try to mix everything in at once) that are banking on plurk popularity/flake appeal to float them along. i don't think i'm alone in saying we need to fucking stop with these because they're easily the biggest drain on comm creativity by far and i'm honestly just sick of seeing them flood out everything else remotely different.

something i've been curious about for awhile since i don't get around much in dwrp: what are some reasons you tag other versions of the same character if you have a friend who plays that character?

i assume some reasons include just being thirsty for that character regardless of interpretation, or maybe you know a player who happens to play the same character, but do you have any other particular reasons? are you just too nice to say your friend sucks, or is it never anything deep?

it's never anything deep. usually it's just the novelty factor of seeing a familiar character, since most of my rp friends and i play from semi-obscure canons so running into one of their muses is like encountering a unicorn in the wild.
