Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

There was a sparkly dragon-girl on dear-mun that could throw glitter at people to make them sleep, and she could play with their dreams. Her post was incredibly adorable and funny.

Anyone here doing NaNoWriMo next month?

And if so, got any OCs you'd like to talk about?

Tribe of people that worship the Sun. One man is seeking to redeem them to the rest of the world because in the ancient lore, their hero and champion stole the goddess from her perch above the world and they eloped together, but this ruined magic for the rest of the world and the Sun tribe fell out of favor, had their capital city destroyed and now survive purely out of the mercy of the other five civilizations, but not as a recognized entity. Mostly they live on the Moon Empire's continent since their bond was stronger than with the other four. Otherwise they take up a nomadic existence or keep very very small settlements.

Unlike the other five; the Sun tribe still celebrates their hero mightily, even if it's with a great deal of shame and everyone wears hair accessories and clothing patterned after and in the same colors of their hero.

My guy has stolen the last relic the hero left before he vanished with the Goddess and is more or less attempting to become an equally great hero to restore their honor and let them be noticed again.

I also want to ask, what would be more interesting? Said OC succeeding, or failing and dealing with that fall out? I'll have to figure out which will happen at some point, but I think just the mention of that struggle will be interesting.

just write both scenarios!

is there a way to combine both scenarios? "both" is usually the most interesting option, if it can be managed.

goddd I've never done nanowrimo ever and I meant to do camp back in july but d:bh dropped and I ended up playing that in my free time instead of writing... I thought about writing about one of my ocs I made back in December, but now I have a new one that would be a bit easier to write about since this newer one isn't period-set like the former one kind of is (therefore requiring slightly less research)...also I have a little more fire to write the newer one.

but I work retail full time and we're going into black friday/holiday already, and October was already a terrible month for my free time and writing tags, so I'm super nervous about trying to commit ;_; I knowww I don't have to hit the word count goal in the end but I'm going to feel so useless if I can't find time for it.

but I am also excited about the potential idea of...my assembly of ocs being in the same universe, since they all function with the same world logistics, and the idea of writing them into one whole writing piece is kind of exciting to me. since I can't roleplay my own characters together on dw!! why not write an actual novel -- or attempt to. I hope I can find the time and energy. :T

Pretty much all of this. I make references they have interacted in canon, but I've also left relationships where they can just very easily say "I don't want to talk to that guy."

I'm also more interested in writing about a newer scenario as well so i say go for it. You will have to reconcile that you can't hit the word count, but if your tags are going to suffer I say maybe consider a hiatus.

thankfully I'm not really in a position with rp where I have huge looming expectations, all of my psls are super casual and most of the people on my tl for plurk will be doing nanowrimo too, and I'm not in a game. so really, I have no pressing, panic-inducing commitments... but there is the worry that psls will go stale if waits take too long!

I also have an issue with just jumping into writing without foreplanning - I don't need to plan every detail beforehand, but I think a lot of my end product for nanowrimo would be vignettes and lots of notes/ideas, instead of a bulk writing

I'm considering just going for it! I wish I'd had time to really think on it and do my pre-planning in October but man, I haven't even had the time to enjoy October, RIP, and my life is about to get crazier. but I also keep thinking that I have all of these ideas and I don't want to just die a person who wrote psls on dreamwidth and did nothing official with any of these ideas I had, meanwhile people self publish or just break out and get their product onto bookshelves and I am constantly thinking it's something I would love to attempt, but it's always 'I'll find time later'. I also rarely enjoy writing solo as much as I do roleplay...but at the end of the day I want to do something with what I'm creating.

November's going to be stupid crazy for me but I need to tell myself...if it's just something written, it's a start, and I need a stepping stone!

Sometimes just little bits, a snapshot of someone's life or parts of it can be a great thing to write/read as well. So there's definitely merit.

I am also having the issue with allowing myself to make time to write, but I think you really should just go for it. All you genuinely need is the end, and even then you can leave that open-ended, but you at least need a goal the story is working towards and honestly I find just letting what happens happen more enjoyable than forcing myself to keep to a tightly made outline, and I agree solo writing is less fun, but as you said, I two wish to do something with my ideas so good luck Anon!
