In the City, there are few establishments quite like The Foaming Mug. Nestled near one of its main gates, it is a haven for both regulars and travelers, adventurers and commonfolk. Always seeming to have an open table or room, its welcoming atmosphere invites all to stay a while, take a load off, and enjoy some good food. thefoamingmug is a dressing room set in but not limited to a bustling tavern, geared towards D&D/Pathfinder/Medieval Fantasy characters. Players may thread within its walls or start anything in another situation such as adventuring, exploring, dungeoneering, etc. AU'd characters are invited to play as well! Membership is not required to post or comment. There are also posts for a bit of OOC organization re; getting a party together and planning a log or sort, including an option to DM the thread if one so chooses. I have a character I want to put in a game who's canon is more on the lighthearted side than a lot of DWRP fare, nonhuman (this is very important to her identity/character), has some superhero-esque moments in canon and who I'd like to get some gen CR going with. I don't want horror or sex games for her, and I don't really have a preferred game pace. Does anyone have suggestions for a good place to put her where I could get some SOL but also some moments where she can use her powers to help people? She'd be a LCW in the game if that helps any.

putting together a hp au set in south korea (potentially jeju). instead of primary school, though, it'd be uni! this would be open to east asian faces in the entertainment industry (so like kpop, cpop, jpop, actors, actresses, models, etc). any interest in joining something like this? or helping brainstorm? i've been pages deep in wiki and google trying to world build and whew it's a doozy.

I hate myself for it, but I've gotten myself back into Life is Strange and I just have this urge to give Nathan a try. I was hoping anyone would give me a little advice as to how to handle him. He's definitely out of my usual character type, but I figured it couldn't hurt to give it a try!

I guess my big worry is making him too soft? He has small little moments where he's not a total asshole, but that's very very rare and I just don't to slip.

Any kind of advice would be awesome!

inspired by me watching a prison show.

i don't care if you play a hero, anyone could get framed for a crime. or arrested for damage to a city while fighting a villain. or coerced into being a drug mule or something similar. or hang out with a villain friend and get pegged for an accessory to the crime.

bonus: what would they do within prison walls? plan to escape? suck up to the prisoner with the most power? accept their fate and mope?

I'm cheating here since this character literally did go to prison and that's pretty much a huge chunk of her arc, uh.

But for what it's worth, it was because she was framed (or more took the fall for) her at the time jack-ass boyfriend's hit and run. Also her prison time kinda sucked since she doesn't do well with authority figures of any type and Jojo's of course had Stand users all over the fuckin' place. It was kind of hilarious to watch, the slice of life-ish parts with her and her girlfriends friends just having to deal with the shit of prison life.

She got out, tho. But the rest of the shit after she got out is super Stone Ocean spoilers.

the hero vs villain debate

Inspired by the recent debate: I'm not sure if it's just bad luck, but part of the issue that I've run into playing an (objectively) bad guy is that whenever he interacts with a hero from his canon they always, inevitably, have to get the last word or 'win' their banter–whether it's something circumstantially in log-style rp or some banter on the network. When I have my character occasionally put his foot in his mouth, generally speaking it's with the understanding that everyone puts their foot in their mouths and is the person who looks like a fool sometimes, and that maybe, occasionally, it'll be the hero sometimes. But really every single interaction they have they either outwit my guy or end on a reminder of X evil act that they did.

And it's IC, but it's kind of exhausting, and it makes my guy interacting with people in his canon not fun. But I'm not really sure if there's a solution, given the fact that my guy is rightfully hated by the protagonists of his canon and technically they really would be in the right about almost everything.

This is the first large-scale villain I've ever played, and basically I'm curious how other people who play villains handle it, of if it's just a matter of getting a thicker skin, especially if your villain is from a canon where the heroes really DO win every time?

i haven't played a super-evil proactive villain in awhile, but

you kind of just have to let it go. unfortunately people will side-eye a person wanting their villain to win a little more than they will a hero wanting to beat the villain all the time. unless the hero player in question is chill, i'd probably just start backing off away from cr with them. there's plenty of hero players who are happy to do give and take, but there's a lot more who just want to win against the bad guy all the time.

my cat likes to drink the water that collects on the metal lip on the inside of the shower door when i get out. i cockblocked him today by closing the door before he could start drinking and he sadly meowed at me. i promised to fill his water bowl with fresh water as soon as i was dressed but he still stared at me reproachfully and then acted like the clean water i gave him just wasn't as satisfying.
