Please note that I haven't played or mod any murdergames before and this is just an idea I just got out of a whim.

i'd definitely suggest joining a murdergame before trying to mod one. A lot goes on in planning one and keeping it going so it would be best to get some experience before diving into the deep end without a life-vest.

i think the hotline one went public with their reserves so you can try that? Lots of people in the murdergame crowd are into pokemon so your idea might get some traction

I would like to join to get inspiration, but I'm actually afraid considering I can't deal with any werewolf or Mafia-style games due to my past and my fear with my characters.

Is it worth it to join? Besides, the murdergame is more than just a bit of horror.

I'm sorry about that. It's just an idea that popped out when I was reading Dangan Roleplay and let's plays of Persona 5.

I think what the anon meant is that if a key mechanic of this style of games bothers you, then you probably shouldn't be modding or playing in them. Not every game type is for every player, and that's okay! But if you say you're going to make a 'pokemon murdergame' and then it's nothing like a murdergame because you've removed the parts of murdergames you don't like, then players are going to be upset at not getting what they expected.

You have a point there. Besides, I doubt there is no real death despite the executions because of the Persona plot point I've mentioned.

Seconding what the other anon said. Join a murdergame first and get a taste for it before you mod it.

You mentioned The Foundation already, so maybe go for their round 4? The tdm goes up this Friday.

Now I'm having second thoughts about this when you suggest I should join a murdergame. I'm mostly a lurker on murdergames for a reason, but is it worth it in exchange for my character to get killed in the first trial?

Like me and the other anon said, murdergames are different enough from 'regular' DWRP games that you really need to play in one to know what it's like.

That said, part of being in a murdergame is accepting that your character will probably die. Roughly 2/3rds of each murdergame dies before the end of the game. You probably won't get out in the first trial (I know most murdergames try to take volunteers for the week 1 deaths), but death is going to happen eventually. So if that bothers you, then you really need to think about if murdergames are right for you.

You're right. I'm not actually willing to be forced to let my character die without my permission. Maybe I'm not willing to get out of my comfort zone by letting them die for the murdergame's sake.

op, judging by your attitude here, you don't sound like someone who should be modding a game period.

It's not like that. I do want to try to mod it just to see where this premise leads, but my reluctance with accepting my characters to die for the murdergame makes realize I feel like a wimp on not even trying.

I do want to mod it to make this game a reality. It's just that I needed a right push to even try a murdergame to my taste.

not for nothing, anon, but i think you just need to accept that murdergames in general 'aren't to your taste'. that's not a bad thing. i'm not into them either. there's a 70%+ chance when you app into one that your char will die. and if you're unfortunate, it happens early. i don't like the idea of joining a game to just watch. murder games are not for me.

but if you don't like that whole idea, then you might want to think of another term that suits more for what you want than adopting one that already means a thing and then trying to force-logic others into agreeing it also means purple as well as potato.

To be honest, I really don't want to be a murdergame completely. I want to have a game where several AU counterparts of the characters witness the deathgame with their canon counterparts through the app and saving them through the power of Persona.

It's like Persona 4 and 5, but with the characters saving the participants from executions.

i don't know the canon, so i don't have a clue what you're saying, but if i were you, i'd more or less put out a notion of what you want. formulate how you'd like a game to be. maybe go poke your noses in other games that are around, read premises, or look at how the theme of dw runs, because it kind of comes off like you're an outsider that doesn't know how dw/its games works and you're trying without fully understanding. running a canon-based game is totally doable and has been done here, but you need to check things out a bit more and figure out the plot/theme/run of the game before you start advertising it as anything.

You're... Not even willing to read the premises and game settings to see what kind of games exist in DWRP so you can have a better idea of what genre your game might fit into?

I actually read the premise. In fact, the other anon suggested that this game might be a short-run game rather a murdergame.

Maybe I should start that route first?

Uncomfortable? You mean my idea might not be up to the other player's taste?

What I'm saying is, you have a set idea in mind for your game. But if you don't like certain aspects of murdergames, maybe open your game as a 'short run' game rather than a murdergame? People like Pokemon, so you'll get players no matter what. But calling a game something it's not won't be a good idea.

That would be a good idea. Advertise the game for what it is, and you will find people who want to play.
