It's not like that. I do want to try to mod it just to see where this premise leads, but my reluctance with accepting my characters to die for the murdergame makes realize I feel like a wimp on not even trying.

I do want to mod it to make this game a reality. It's just that I needed a right push to even try a murdergame to my taste.

not for nothing, anon, but i think you just need to accept that murdergames in general 'aren't to your taste'. that's not a bad thing. i'm not into them either. there's a 70%+ chance when you app into one that your char will die. and if you're unfortunate, it happens early. i don't like the idea of joining a game to just watch. murder games are not for me.

but if you don't like that whole idea, then you might want to think of another term that suits more for what you want than adopting one that already means a thing and then trying to force-logic others into agreeing it also means purple as well as potato.

To be honest, I really don't want to be a murdergame completely. I want to have a game where several AU counterparts of the characters witness the deathgame with their canon counterparts through the app and saving them through the power of Persona.

It's like Persona 4 and 5, but with the characters saving the participants from executions.

i don't know the canon, so i don't have a clue what you're saying, but if i were you, i'd more or less put out a notion of what you want. formulate how you'd like a game to be. maybe go poke your noses in other games that are around, read premises, or look at how the theme of dw runs, because it kind of comes off like you're an outsider that doesn't know how dw/its games works and you're trying without fully understanding. running a canon-based game is totally doable and has been done here, but you need to check things out a bit more and figure out the plot/theme/run of the game before you start advertising it as anything.

I actually read the premise. In fact, the other anon suggested that this game might be a short-run game rather a murdergame.

Maybe I should start that route first?

I think you need to stop and re-evaluate if modding in general is even for you. You seem like a person who has trouble with anxiety, and that is not a good thing when it comes to modding. As a mod, you have to be the one to deal with a lot of things (problem players, player conflicts, crit about your game, the constant stream of questions from players and potential players, worrying about how to fit special cases into your game, and much more) and given that your answer to "well maybe you should try a murdergame first to see if you even like the format?" was "Well I guess my dreams are crushed, no game for me :(" I don't think you can handle being a mod right now. You need to get your personal issues under control first and stop putting your emotional responsibility on others before you're ready to be a mod.

you're not confident in your decisions and your choices in pulling together a premise, which implies you won't be confident in your decisions when modding/running a game which spells bad news. people are going to dissent and disagree: does that mean your ideas are bad? no, not necessarily. does that mean there are improvements that can be made? almost certainly. does that mean that you need to know when to put your foot down and say 'this is the idea (we're) going with'? also yes.

sometimes you will make decisions not everyone will agree with, but you need to be confident and you need to be able to stand by them.

You're right. Everyone is calling my other idea weird right now and I don't even have the confidence because of the other anon's opinions. Not to mention I'm too scared to even join a murdergame.

The fact that I'm not even listening to other anons and keep asking some handholding makes me feel ashamed of myself.

Nobody is calling your idea weird, and it's definitely not anon's fault that you're taking advice (not even crit, but legit ADVICE) poorly.

Stop trying to blame other people for your personal problems. Myself and some other anons are trying to be genuinely helpful, and you're throwing that help right back in our faces by throwing this pity party and acting like it's our fault you have confidence issues.

Grow up. We're all adults in this hobby, so start acting like one.

Uncomfortable? You mean my idea might not be up to the other player's taste?

What I'm saying is, you have a set idea in mind for your game. But if you don't like certain aspects of murdergames, maybe open your game as a 'short run' game rather than a murdergame? People like Pokemon, so you'll get players no matter what. But calling a game something it's not won't be a good idea.

That would be a good idea. Advertise the game for what it is, and you will find people who want to play.

anon if you have this much trouble talking with people who are actively trying to help you, you really should not mod at all

modding a game is a responsibility. you will be held accountable by your players and if you make a choice they don't like, they will voice that opinion to you, and your response cannot be "ok i'll just close the game because i'm panicking and this is too stressful"

Stop that. You're putting your personal disappointment on everyone here, like it's our fault you're disappointed and upset right now.

Feeling upset or disappointed is okay. That's a normal feeling to experience. But passive-aggressively putting it on everyone else in the way you have been in this thread is not okay. You need to accept that your feelings are your own and that only you can control your feelings, and then you need to stop putting that responsibility on other people. I don't even play 'feelings manager' for my best friends, much less a stranger on the internet. And expecting all of us to go "no shhh it's okay, you're good bb" just because your feelings are hurt is immature.

You need to either get help or get yourself together. The only thing preventing you from being able to mod is yourself, and none of us can change that for you. The only person who can change you is yourself.

take some responsibility for your own responses and your own reactions to everyone in this thread. no-one has said your idea was stupid, only that it needs development but you are acting self-defeating and, dare i say it, whiny in the face of people saying it's not perfect from the get go. it's YOUR idea: you develop it, you make it grow. you take on board the comments other people give you and you go from there.

your attitude is the only thing that's holding you back and that? that's on you. take some time to reflect on why people are telling you this. your reaction right now is childish.
