help meme please

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

what do you think they'll like about the new place?

maybe you need to train your pets to behave/gtfo of your way. like a hand signal for the cats to move their fluffy butts. i know with dogs, a command PLUS a hand signal is more successful because they're not just depending on the sound of your voice. not sure how well it works with cats.

have you washed your bedsheets yet? don't do it yet, use your smelly pet-mom smell to comfort his whiny butt because it has a familiar smell.

same for the pet beds. don't wash your pets' favorite things yet so they don't flip out at NEW PLACE, NEW SMELL, NEW FEAR, TOO MUCH NEW!

tbh when i change my bedsheets, i put my old ones in my dog's bed area so she has a familiar smell to comfort herself with when i'm not home. and then when i change my bedsheets again, i change her bedsheets again.

don't be alarmed if they refuse to eat for a short time at the new place, that's just pets being big babies about too much change.

The new place is literally right next door to where I live right now, so the neighborhood will at least be familiar to my dog. I think the cats will like that there's a lot of built in shelving for them to jump up on, and the bathroom leads right into my room so they'll be able to sit on the edge of the tub and stare at me like they used to like to do at my last place (where I am right now has no tub) There's also this really cool upstairs storage space with a window in it that I think the cats will enjoy hanging out in.

I actually do the blanket thing whenever I get a new comforter, my pup gets the old one to snuggle in. I wouldn't put my sheets in with him because he is really fussy about making blanket nests in his crate and he would end up tearing holes in them while trying to get them where he wants them. I have nice sheets, I'd like them to stay nice!

We've moved a few times now, so I know how they react to new places. My older cat will act traumatized for a few days, but it won't be too bad because she'll have my younger cat comforting her. My dog will probably be totally unfazed, beyond being very interested in new smells. The most confusing thing for him for a while might be going in one door over rather than the door to our current place.

smh, he would tear up your sheets out of LOVE! so ungrateful. maybe you chould trim his nails more often, my dog gets monster claws when they grow out too long and i don't want her shredding up my legs when she jumps on me.

maybe you could bribe your pets to make them warm up to their new home faster. hide some treats and they can go on a scavenger hunt as they explore. obviously the cat treats would have to be where doggo can't reach them so he doesn't get greedy. maybe bribe those cats with some catnip.

idk if you'd want to comfort them with smell too? like plants/scents that cats/dogs like. idk what smells would be good for that offhand so you'd have to google it, sorry.

haha he actually keeps his nails fairly short on his own, with walking and he also will chew on them when he's bored, but his dewclaw is just like, razor sharp all the time. no matter what I do. I trim it and the next day it's like a murder weapon again. I think he's sharpening it on his crate bars like a shiv.

The tearing things up though he definitely does with his mouth. He likes to chew on the blankets too, he's a weirdo.

I will definitely be bribing the kitties with catnip, I have a huge bottle of fresh dried catnip my stepmom grew in her yard, the kitties go nuts for it.

I do have some comforting stuff for them, Jackson Galaxy did a bunch of essential oil type things specifically for cats and dogs and I have a few of those from the last time I moved, which I think helped, so I think we'll be pretty okay!
