if you don't preorder a game, what is the best way to buy it brand new so it "counts"?

i tend to buy a lot of games that end up barely getting translated or made in the us and i know it's just one copy, but i try to make sure i buy them brand new and preorder so the companies know people are interested. i missed out on preordering something a while ago, so is there anyone who might know the most effective way to buy something that isn't a digital download brand new? i'm not particularly fond of gamestop so i was thinking play-asia since they have american releases too and i know i'm over thinking but i was a little curious about others feelings on this!

Bear in mind that after the first week, most new sales don't even really count anymore. Companies tend to gauge success or failure based off sales from preorders and from the first week or month. Some of them will look at total over time, but the sales that are likely to actually add to the count will be digital, not physical.

How it all works is that each retailer chooses to buy X number of copies from the publisher. With most of the titles you are speaking of here, they get one print run and that's it, so they already have pretty much sold what they are going to. All that remains is for the retailers to sell enough to make back what they paid for the copies (which will allow them to decide if games like that are worth stocking). Since chances are low that another print run will happen, buying new from a retailer has little bearing on things since that pretty much determines if the retailer is going to order more copies or not, but they can't order what doesn't exist.

So pretty much if you want it to "count" your best bets will be digital or buying from the publisher's website. Otherwise, just avoid resellers so you at least show the retailer that bought direct from the publisher that there is interest in that type of game and they should continue to stock them.

Pick a character (it can be one you RP, but it doesn't have to be) and write a brief IC comment about their feelings on a specific topic. There is no hard limit on length, but aim for something between two and ten lines. Other anons will then try to guess which character you're writing.

the most welcoming game i've ever been in, people actually tagged out, one network or log post per month was required for ac, and had a surprisingly nice balance of crack and drama. it was fun in a way that doesn't fly in dw's current anemic state

what dubbed anime can you guys think of that would appeal to a comedy-loving non-weeb normie? i'm asking for my mom. and it has to be dubbed.

her favorite anime is shin-chan, and she likes american stuff like family guy/seth mcfarlane stuff, shows on comedy central, that sort of stuff. i was thinking about downloading her panty and stocking, studio ghibli movies, and the infamous ghost stories dub, maybe space dandy.

not sure about bobobo (canon-blind), cromartie (canon-familiar, but not sure if it's too "anime" for her. thoughts?), or the devil is a part-timer (dub-blind, canon-familiar). not comedies, but might download wolf children just to give her mom feels. maybe leafie too.

feel free to suggest other genres, but she's not really into drama or romance/romcoms. she might be into slice of life or mystery depending on the show. nothing "kiddy" or super ecchi, please. she's a cat lady btw, if you know any comedies featuring kitties.

i have the problem of overthinking/second guessing my tags and it's turned me into a flake

has anyone else had this problem? how did you get past it?

yes, currently working on getting past it. couple things i do -
20/10 for tags/something else. when im on tag time whether its 20 minutes or 10 minutes im not allowed to do anything but tags.
try to stop myself at two rereads for what im replying to / how im replying. mainly concern myself with typos, make sure im not missing something giant in the tag im responding to, try to add a hook to reply to (last ones the hardest). even if the tag feels lackluster, as long as it has all three of those i just use it. setting it aside and coming back rarely offers me any new inspiration or insight. the more i just push through it the more i pick up steam and find the later tags easier to hit on something i like quicker.

tl;dr: just do it. you arent writing the next great american novel, try to remember that 'a little lackluster but reliable' is better than 'do we actually have that person in game?'

RP etiquette question! When replying to someone's top level in a TDM for a shipping/sex game, should you only reply with someone that suits their shipping prefs, or is it okay to reply with gen RP from a character that isn't a shipping pref?
