the closest things to ecats games left aren't cracky either, there hasn't really been a cracky ecats since camp

man i was just debating adding in to that best game experience thread right above my actual best memories are from a really cracky stupid fast-paced game from back in the day

well, if you don't make the thing, people definitely won't join it.

people won't anyway. the latest game to try that which had a cracky premise and was a throwback everyone anon said they were excited for flopped before it even got off the ground.

the fact is no matter how nostalgic people claim they are for stuff like this or dressing rooms, they will not app or play in them when people bother to make them. that era has come and gone.

sitting around reminiscing about something, and actually DOING that thing, are two different animals. people will find any excuse they need to not participate when someone actually puts in the work to make these throwbacks work.

Honestly, I think a part of it is a game like that is one people especially will want to wait and see on. Promising cracky events is one thing, but a lot of people who may be into that are seriously burnt out on the standard ones and would want to see that the events have some originality to them and the playerbase makes them fun.

It could help if the mod team actually had things set up where people could see the events planned for a time and see if that's stuff they'd enjoy playing or if cracky events is just going to be a bunch of sex swaps and age downs that we're sick of.

that's a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy, though.

if everyone waits, no one joins. the pool remains unused because none of you want to be the first to jump in.

i sincerely doubt it was everyone anon. it was probably five or six people making a lot of noise, and everyone else was indifferent at best.

fact of the matter is, it's pretty much impossible to judge the popularity of anything on an anon comm, because a few people flailing madly can really inflate the appearance of interest.

if the survey was anything to go by, a not insignificant amount of people want these throwback style games.

and yet time and again, experience proves out that they won't join them.

like above anon said, the hard part is getting people to get off their asses and actually participate

same. plotty games are cool too, but i miss the sandbox where i could basically do anything.

dwrp hates modding. i don't mind easy-going and mild events, but i really am not interested in most crack events. they were never funny and all i have are memories of people using them as excuses for weird ooc shit and extreme drama ic and ooc. there are plenty of games with shorter, quicker tags (forestcovered and melodiesoflife for one) but a lot of them come with some kind of plot. i'm fine with that but i'd much rather play in a game where i have the option for good quality, longer tags when i'm feeling it or short bursts of texting when i feel like it.
