BUTT SCRUFF

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

all i want to do is play in this musebox thread that only gets tagged twice a day because of time zone differences, but i have game tags i need to do

how do you shift your focus when you get stuck on one thing like this? i'm playing two totally different characters in each of these so it's hard to go from one to the other when one seems more interesting at the time

Most of the time I just force myself for a tag or two. Or pick out the easiest to respond to tags to do first and usually that will give me more motivation to do the rest.

This will probably sound stupid but I write myself a mini fanfic of whatever it is that I'm so interested in about the thread, whether that's a specific pairing or that the thread is fluff or action or whatever else. Usually that gets it out of my system enough that I can focus on other stuff.

it's also worth considering if you really want to stay in a game where it seems like a chore to actually do your tags? rp in general should, for the most part, always be fun

it's not that my game isn't fun?

i like it just fine. sometimes it's a little less engaging at certain points depending what's going on with the plot or who's on hiatus or whatever, but it's not that i hate the idea of tagging there. it's just that i want to do something more than i want to do that right now. sometimes that feeling lasts a few days because i'm doing an intense scene in my musebox, which is a trap that's bad for me to fall in to, because i'm one of those people who will feel shame over letting my tags sit for a while and then avoid them even more

it's hard to shut down my brain when it's excited about One Thing

i never understand getting stressed over tags personally, just do whatever threads feel most inspiring. let the ones you can't think of anything for sit awhile unless it's dire to the game plot or something. it's really not that big of a deal imo
