Anons, what are the ways you go about doing a canon review?

as someone who plays mostly from video games, i typically just skim a text let's play of the game and related materials. to get a better grasp of a character's motivations, i'll take notes on what they do and why, as well as what other characters say about them. if i'm canon reviewing to brush up on voice, i pull up pastebin and write down every single line of theirs as i read, which is probably a huge waste of time, but it works like a charm for me.

Newb question. If the most recent TDM for a game is a month old, is it still ok to respond to it or is it a better option to wait and see if a new TDM goes up?

probably best to wait. new ones usually go up monthly, but if you're not sure, go back and check through the old ones and see if they're every month or every two months. if you can't (because the game is new), pm the mods or ask on the faq when the next tdm is.

assuming frequent tags before and no indication of rl issues affecting the other player.

after i send a pm asking if they're still up for it and get no reply. just because there's no indication of rl happening doesn't mean it didn't. or it could be computer shit. no idea. if you're talking about replies daily and nothing for a week, give it another few days and send a pm. if you don't hear anything, it's been dropped - barring the player having something really serious taking up their time, in which case, you'll know either way when/if you ever get a reply to that pm.

I feel like I'm no longer one of the "popular kids" in my game, it's cutting into my enjoyment, and I feel like an utter moron for that. Really I know 100 percent that I'm being an idiot, that no one hates me, that everything is okay, that the only thing that's changed is my own level of activity and involvement (for RL reasons) and that even if that wasn't the case I have awesome close CR that I should just enjoy. But the stupid irrational "my char's ass isn't smeared everywhere therefore exclusion!!!!" feeling persists.

i've recently discovered that our pet cockatiel hates bare feet. if one comes near him, he puffs up and squawks bloody murder until it's taken away again. i don't even mean like, threatening to step on him or anything, just having him out and crossing one leg over your lap so he can see the foot will do it.

do you use any particular programs to make grabbing screencaps easier or less time consuming? i'm fine manually taking the time to grab and crop things but i wonder if i'm being stupid

you can just leave it to cap the whole episode or you can sit and skip to the parts you want capped so you have less sorting to do.

I need root canal but my first appointment for proper treatment with the specialist isn't until late september. two days ago the resultant dental abscess that had been cooking there blew up overnight and the whole right side of my face got HUGE, to the point it hurts just to smile, or laugh, let alone eat. the result has been several days spent off work.

my dentist has given me a course of antibiotics and they finally seem to be taking effect, but I'm concerned about the infection returning between now and my appointment. this is one hell of a mess that's starting to make me wish I'd just had the damn tooth extracted in the first place. but I wanted to save it, because it'd be kind of an awkward one to lose (second molar from back) and my mouth is wide enough you'd be able to see the gap when I smile. but I'm so sick of being in pain, or having my face blow up, or constantly having to take time out of work for emergency appointments and I'm so paranoid I won't be able to last out the final stretch.

I just wanted to share because I'm frustrated as fuck and pulling my hair out over this, but if anyone has had similar experiences I'd appreciate hearing how things turned out for you, or any advice you have to share.

my sister had something like this happen. broken tooth turned into a HUGE abscess that swelled up the entire side of her face, and because she wanted to wait for her dentist appointment to get it looked at, she almost died. right after she started the antibiotics she got way better though, so you're fine as long as you keep taking them. mom had the same thing, but the abscess hadn't blown up yet.

anecdotally, also had an uncle who got an abscess, had it extracted with no antibiotics, and died as a result.

the moral here is: take care of your teeth, assholes
