One of my absolute favorites are daemon/animal spirits visiting for anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. I love seeing people get creative and try to match up their characters beyond just the surface attributes. Plus, it makes for some nice CR, both old and new.

On an iphone is there any way to make the screen follow your typing when the text box is larger than your screen? Android does this automatically, but I keep having to scroll sideways on iOS and it's driving me crazy.

Not sure if any other anons are doing that #DeleteApple #DeleteFacebook, #DeleteTwitter, etc thing but I'm techie enough to try to help anons that want to find alternatives to their websites/programs/apps.

Like Mastodon is a pretty good alternative to Twitter and Diaspora is a good alternative to Facebook, but it doesn't have groups yet IIRC.

Deleting so many profiles of mine feels kind of liberating.

What do you think constitutes a good AC comment count for a slow/medium/fast game? I’ve seen a pretty wide variety and I’m curious as to what people think are reasonable counts.

Assuming comments can be collected from multiple threads (though probably with a limit on threads, let's say 3-5):

10-20 for slow
30-40 for medium
50-60 for fast

This is not what DWRP actually has and the last would probably kill all chances of anyone apping, but it's what I've seen players of those speeds achieve comfortably.

MoM is hard to break into unless you're willing to play with the star wars cast or do fluffy teen drama. el nysa is an overbloated disaster that's become the shiny game of the month with flakes galore and riverview is pretty all SoL all the time, though i hear the mods are trying to encourage more activity.

futuro is probably the least wanky of the above but you'd better like the mission-based format because that's all it is. they also revamped the premise to consent only participation iirc so that might limit your character choices, but i haven't heard anything bad besides its awful app system.

which, to be fair, helps keep its numbers reasonable due to the cap, but just know if you're gonna app you may be in for a wait.

when test driving a character in a game tdm, do you pick a canon point and stick with it, or do you try different canon points with different threads to test out which canon point might work best?

there's been a few times when I made different top level prompts for different canon points if I'm really waffling but usually I try to stay consistent when tagging others. it doesn't mean that's the canon point I'll go with when I app, though.

If you're making an account to do smut with, is there such a thing as "too many" smutty icons?

I ask because there's a doujin character I really do like for legitimate reasons (even though the smut's kinda a mixed bag) but so many of their pics are just different expressions while they're fucking/being fucked.

I want more expressions, and the artist sorta had a fetish regarding that character's design such that he did several other doujins with similar-looking characters, such that someone not-versed in the works probably wouldn't notice a difference.

It's not wank-worthy to just get some of those, right?

check dreamcodes and pick a custom layout that appeals to you. but you really do need to have someone code familiar on the team or you're going to have a tough time if anything breaks, or you need to update it, and you will.

What are your thoughts on fandom OCs? Insofar as would you play with them/do you find them cringey or weird or whatever. Obviously this just goes for memes since they aren't game friendly.

It really depends. Some canons just give you a huge universe like a sandbox to play in with lots of inspiration for characters with pretty much nothing to do with the main canon plot. I generally don't see much wrong with fandom OCs who are just characters inspired by a commercially published mythos or world setting or whatever.

If you're talking about fandom OCs who are just ways for the player to get close to the main characters/plot action with their own thinly veiled self-insert, then I think pretty much everyone starts side-eyeing that shit.

Question for anybody who's started a game.

What all do you need to have done before you can start publicly showing it and going "hey this is my game!!!!". Like. I have an idea and some mechanics and NPCs and stuff all in my head. But I'm not. Sure how to turn that into all the info pages and shit that you need to make a game run.

FAQ tends to be the bulk of the info page work (unless you have a really complex setting) and also forces you to sit down and think through all your IC and OOC mechs, so it's a good place to start.
