Rundown:
rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.
Rules:
Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

Re: Futurology/MoM/El Nysa/Riverview
(Anonymous) 2018-04-25 01:56 am (UTC)(link)MoM - So real talk: out of all these games, MoM has my favorite setting but has by far the worst playerbase. Not in the sense that anyone is a bad person or it's wanky, but in terms of how hard it is to get CR unless you have a built in friendbase, play from a well-known canon or rp a well-known character. You're almost certainly fucked otherwise unless you get lucky. I've had friends who played in this game for years, ended up dropping, and came back without even being able to reintegrate into the game because people kept dropping threads with them. People would tell me all the time how they wanted CR with me, and then dropped our threads within a couple comments, if even that. Network posts are the only ones that get tags, don't bother with open logs unless you plot with other people in advance.
It doesn't help that there is a big base of players who have been there for years and are so obviously not interested in getting new CR. Being in this game actively bummed me out because for a long time I thought I was doing something wrong to not be getting CR. When I left and found in other games that I faced none of the same issues I did in MoM, I realized it wasn't me, but the overall playerbase.
It's sad because I do think the setting is great, the mods have done a lot of work world-building, and the setting thrives on player initiative to drive plots. The mods themselves are very friendly too, and not all players in this game are bad, but none of that means anything because the culture there is very much people sticking to their own little groups and not going outside it once they've been accepted by a circle. And if you don't get integrated into an existing cr circle then you're screwed.
El Nysa - Honestly, this game is bloated and as a result the plot itself has very little direction and generally speaking there is no reason for any characters to want to align with either faction. It wants to be Eachdraidh really badly, but it got too big too fast.
That aside, the playerbase in my experience? I honestly had no trouble making CR. I wasn't playing a super popular or well-known character, but I would get plenty of people tagging with me and thoroughly enjoyed my CR. I had the fortune of coming in during the first app round mind you, so it was maybe easier because of that? But either way it has a very healthy mix of animated and LA canons and never felt cliquey to me. Dropping was a hard choice, but I couldn't get invested in the plot even when I tried to engage with it and decided to go. It sucked because I did enjoy the CR I had and never had trouble interacting with players in the game, but overall I couldn't muster the energy for it anymore.
Futurology - Of the three games it is the most plot focused, as it is a mission based panfandom game with your characters hopping between different universes. It has a mix of older players and newer ones, and in my experience everyone is very friendly. That said it isn't the sort of game you should join if you plan to keep to yourself and not engage with the greater playerbase; with only 60 players at any one time, OOC interaction to plot is 100% necessary if you want to engage with the setting and develop interesting CR. You don't need to have everyone on plurk or whatever, but do expect to communicate oocly with the cr you want to deepen. And when you're newer to the game you will need to do most of the reaching out.
Most people I have reached out to have been friendly and always want to do things with the missions. It has a mix of fast players and slower ones, and being on the slower end I can say that most people I have tagged with are willing to backtag for long periods of time. It's very log focused however, which is rather refreshing when most games these days have a heavier network slant.
this got pretty tl;dr but i figured i give you my honest experiences with them. out of all three i would recommend futurology, but atm apps won't be open until probably summer time, and even then its dependent on how many people have dropped whether you can app or not. el nysa is good if you want a very large game and you will not find much issue getting CR with people honestly. MoM I 100% tell you to steer clear unless you are going to be apping from a popular canon, or if you have a healthy amount of friends in game who will tag you regardless of who you play.
