i think one of my characters was emotionally (and possibly physically) abusive to his wife before her death. if he were to enter into any other relationships, i'm pretty sure it would start up again after the honeymoon phase.

Depends what kind of con you're going to and what sort of person you are. If it's the kind of con that has lots of panels and things to do and see, you're probably fine. If it's not- well, are you a sociable person? You'll probably get most of your enjoyment from hanging out and meeting new people in your fandoms. If you're more introverted, you'll possibly end up running out of things to do. There's a con I visit with friends every now and then that has fuck all to do most of the time, and I can't imagine how boring it would be to go alone.
