all the sherlock players i've ever known turn out to be the type of people i despise. they all start out normal but the more i get to know them ooc, the more i realize they're stuck on themselves, godmodding/infomodding, narrow minded, and ignore crit.

and now i can't look at a single one without thinking they're all like this. and also i hate cumberbund's face with a burning passion.

I don't know what it is about the character, but it does seem to attract the most obnoxious players. I really think they should play up how broken Sherlock is as a person, as opposed to trying to be right all the time.

sometimes when i write tags with new muses i keep open posts from other people that are supposed to be good at the same character for voice reference. everyone always says i'm pretty much spot on from the get-go, and i usually only do it for about a week or so before i figure it out myself, but... feels bad, man.

I enjoy reading other good writers who write the same character as me. They don't always write him the same way I would but the feeling of his voice is always there. I think it helps focus me to be the best I can too. I just hope that I don't unintentionally steal certain head canon from them...

I hate it when other roleplayers' grammar isn't perfect like mine.

Ellipses have 3 periods. I usually see people use ".." or use as many........as they....feel like using. Spaces exist between words and ellipses too, you know!

You know what else exists? The comma. It's not just for listing things! "I see what you mean Jim that's a terrible book" "Hey what happened to Sally Sephiroth?" Both of those sentences are missing commas and mistakes like that are just so common.

Could/should/would of or anything like that? Just terrible.

I'm starting to notice a hefty amount of favortism going on in my game. Everything seems like its starting to revolve around three or four characters, all of whom are played by friends of the mods. It's getting increasingly difficult to form any CR at all when there's all this circle jerking going on, especially when I try to get my characters involved in metaplot things. It just seems like the rest of us are destined to always fall short, which is sad because I do/did enjoy playing there.

When you end a complete thought with an ellipsis, YOU STILL HAVE TO ADD THE PERIOD. Therefore "no more and no less" is incorrect because if you end a complete thought with "..." and don't include the period it is an incomplete sentence.

Now, if you trail off with an ellipsis and the thought isn't complete such as: I meant to eat breakfast, but... then that is correct. I meant to eat breakfast, but I forgot... is not correct. I meant to eat breakfast, but I forgot.... is correct.

Any advice anons around? I've gotten into a shitty habit of being so much of a perfectionist that whenever I don't overachieve in something it makes me so embarrassed that I end up wanting to give it up entirely like a giant toddler. Does anyone know any handy mental tricks for getting past it? I'm getting pretty sick of it.
