i'm coming back to dwrp after a short hiatus and i vaguely remember there being some sort of chrome extension that would make it so that you could reload tags in the comment box if you accidentally closed the tab or lost power etc...does that ring a bell for anyone?

Depends entirely on the character, ime. Older dudes are usually easy to match up, older women are less so, but the key to shipping memes in general is to play fuckable characters.

Ftr, if you're looking for 30+/30+ ships, your options are going to be less just because there are more teen and twenty-something characters being played, but we are out there!

What does it mean to you to block someone? If someone blocks you what's your response? Does it vary from site to site?

I've realized in dwrp I think it would be a nuclear option (of sorts) to block someone, or have them block me. I would definitely take a block as an expression for a desire of no contact and I reserve blocking others for pretty rare cases where I feel sure I don't want to interact with that person in any capacity ever again.

On tumblr, if someone's posts keep popping up on my dash and I'm not interested in seeing them, or if they're clogging up a tag I track with unrelated content, I'm likely to block. It feels much more casual there.

Where do you guys stand?

I love my PSL partner. They're enthusiastic, tag super fast, and have the best ideas. It's great.

But sometimes when they rush to tag, they make grammatical mistakes. Wrong verb tense, typos, missing punctuation.

How do I tell them politely that they need to edit their tag? Have any of you had an issue like this? Part of me just wants to accept it since the plot and ideas are good, but the sloppy writing gets distracting.

Anyone here have experience with playing lone canon warriors who are villains or characters who have questionable morals? I think I'm just afraid of the lack of CR or that my character is going to be ostracized by the number of heroes that are usually in games.

Maybe what I'm really asking is how does one play villains in general and still stay in character. My guess is the genre of the game also helps? Have you run any successful plots of your own that are related, semi-, or unrelated to your game's storyline all while doing villainous or questionable things?

As someone who has done this with some success, I've found that it can depend a lot on what motivates your villain. Use that to ground their actions.

Do they have some evil scheme and/or goal in their canon that isn't possible in the new setting? Play up how frustrating and isolating that is for them. If it leads them to feeling lost, or questioning who they are, that can be an excellent tool for getting them to relate to other characters, even the heroes.

Are they a sneaky bitch who can play nice and bide their time? Have them make connections and pretend to not be evil while they plot things in the background. This is great for if you build up CR and then want to play out some backstabbing, angst, "you're not who you said you were" type of plots. A lot of people enjoy that.

If they are the kind of character that will openly be a dick to people, find (or ask for) players who like playing with that dynamic. But also don't be afraid to let your villain grow or realize maybe having friends isn't so bad and maybe being a dick doesn't help them. Don't be afraid to let them look like a fool, fail, or have a change of heart about things. That can be the most interesting aspect of playing a villain, seeing how they crash and burn and how they pick themselves up after.

Use the setting to give them a new goal, and you'll be surprised how sometimes they discover it's in their own best interest to cooperate with others. They can be selfishly motivated and still contribute to metaplots and/or still build good connections. All it takes is realizing that (assuming the character isn't just a one-note evil for evil's sake type) they are people with a range of emotions you can tap into. If you give them dynamic reactions, your partners will have plenty to respond to. Even evil assholes have things they like, that bring them joy. Give them opportunities to show new sides of themselves.

If your villain is especially standoffish it will take more work to get them out there, but if you're creative and committed to it, there are plenty of ways to make it happen. It helps, too, if you make sure that even if your character is the type to take themselves too seriously, you the mun are here for fun and are open to communicating and plotting and letting your villain be more than just Evil(tm) in a setting. Ask for plots, chime in on plotting posts, be enthusiastic and involved, and you should find plenty of people who want to play with you. Get out there anon. Good luck!

hi anons, does anyone know if it's possible to set up gmail filters/labels for games? I have filters set up for characters right now, but I have a character in 2 games and I would like it if it auto labeled the game too!

try filtering messages that have the game community's name in the subject? e.g. for noctium you'd create filters to apply the noctium label to emails that have noctiumrp or radianet in the subject

it's not foolproof since someone could conceivably mention the name in the subject line of an unrelated but it'll get the job done 99% of the time
