because sometimes i'm either not in the mood or don't want to see someone's replies in plurks, so blocking them is an easy, one-click solution to that. it doesn't mean i hate them or necessarily find them annoying to the point that i want nothing to do with them, just that at that moment they aren't the right company for me.

this is not an offensive or rude thing to do and i won't buy into that mindset no matter how many anons try to make it out to be; it's knowing when i have dumb, petty limits, and instead of letting myself get unfairly ticked off at a stranger, i use the tools available to me to remove that because like most everyone else on this website i am not always the bigger person who just closes a tab if i see something that irks me. a block, against someone i have had no actual conflict with, means 'i probably don't want to see your content for whatever reason' - and for that reason, i don't care if those people want to throw me a pm asking for an explanation. i'd be happy to explain that it's not a personal thing and in an ideal world we're all adults about it who can understand that online spaces, particularly one as banal as plurk, aren't the be all, end all of being capable of having good social interactions with a person. blocking working both ways also means that (in most cases, idk if plurk actually has this feature) there won't be an awkward scenario where they're trying to respond to a public reply i've made and i can't see them doing so

i have a ton of people i don't know anything about blocked on, say, twitter, but if i found myself in a discussion and they were part of it too i'd be happy to talk with them. same goes for plurk, or for rp where ooc communication is rarely even required anyway

imo dming someone to ask why you've been blocked is taking this to the extreme (it's probably not healthy to worry about a random block to that degree), but there's also not anything inherently wrong in doing so so long as you approach them reasonably and understand that you're in no way entitled to a response or explanation. same vein, the blocker needs to not have the attitude of 'this person is harassing me by asking me why i blocked them,' unless they're, you know, actually harassing you. just delete the message and move on w/ your life if that's the approach you prefer to take

but if you’re in a mutual plurk and they respond to the mutual, and the mutual responds back without naming specifics, how do you know they’re talking to someone else and not you? it’s pretty obvious that you blocked them

i wouldn't be able to see them but it's kind of obvious when someone is responding to something you didn't say. obviously in that case someone i can't see is also in there, and they can't see me either (unless they can see me, again i don't know if plurk hides messages both ways, then it's the awkward situation i mentioned before where i simply have no idea i'm being spoken to)

I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with blocking someone but I also don't think it's unreasonable for someone to not want to play with you after you do. And not unreasonable for their close friends or cr to not like it. They also have a right to choose not to play with you because it makes them uncomfortable.

as far as the blocked person's friends and cr goes, they're well within their rights, but i wouldn't exactly call it reasonable. understandable, yeah, and not something i'd hold against them necessarily, but if they're using it as a basis for 'i don't like you/don't want to rp with you because you have one of my friends blocked despite there being no actual bad blood' it's kind of like... i get it, but also invest a little less.

it's just rp, we don't have to go any deeper than that (but if you do then... well ok, bye?)

Shockingly, people do make friends here. And most people wouldn't want to be friends with someone who seemingly doesn't like their friends. This has nothing to do with rp itself, it's just basic ass social dynamics.

Its near impossible to tell you are blocked the only way is if a mutual pings that person and you don’t see a reply so in the end unless that happens there is no ooc communication

as they say closure is just the verbal explanation of what someone has already shown you, sometimes that's all you get and it's on you to process it and accept it on your own (even in situations where you might deserve more because you can't control that part)

i've only ever blocked one person, and it was because they shared porn of a (very) underage character with me, for the second time, after i made it clear that i never wanted to see any again. please tell me what could possibly have been "resolved" that would have been in any way worth my time.

again, it is not someone else's job to give you closure unless they're your therapist.
