some people want to have their cake and eat it too. you never have to work at a relationship with someone when you can just pack up and go cozy up to your spare when your first choice is doing something you don't like. you never have to compromise because one of your others will accept you just exactly how you are. you have attention showered on you. you never feel alone because you have multiple partners. you can pick and choose the qualities you want to enjoy at any given time and ignore the qualities/people you don't feel like being around at that moment

yeah it basically is a recipe for complete disaster. imo it shows immaturity and an inability to put in effort for the sake of a monogamous relationship

PSA for mac users experiencing update difficulties with el capitan

since I know a few members of the community use macs and have had the same issue as me:

since upgrading to el capitan, my mac hasn't been shutting down or restarting. for me this wasn't a big deal since I have an SSD and can leave my mac running long term with few risks to the longterm health of the machine...until it came to updating to the latest version of the OS. since the machine wouldn't restart, it couldn't install the update. not even with a force reboot.

if anyone else hasn't figured it out how to solve the update issue yet: what you need to do is start up in safe mode (force-shut down your macbook and start it up again, holding down shift when you hear the startup chime and releasing it when the apple logo appears). then install updates whilst in safemode.

unfortunately updating the OS didn't cure my shutdown problem, BUT at least I now have the new OS and security updates on my system.

What is the fucking point of going to someone, talking back and forth to set up a plot and then running the fuck off when that player writes you a starter?

I'm just so assblasted about this, especially because I have such a small window of time to RP and the people who come to me know this from the get-go. Now I've wasted my time and got my hopes up for nothing.

is it normal for people playing from a later canon point to play out their character thinking my earlier canon point castmate is a burden?

they're seriously playing out their character feeling like mine is a dependent child they have to care for when in all honesty, their character has been pretty dependent on mine throughout the whole series

only in the EARLY early canon (i play from the second to last arc, i'm not far behind) is my character somewhat dependent on theirs but my character's not NEARLY as burdening as they're implying

my character can make friends on their own and explore the town without a babysitter, idk what the mun's thinking by making their character THINK like that. maybe if they were implying "i don't want my friend to go off on their own because i don't trust people in this town/because then we wouldn't be together and it's been so long since we've been together/because he's too friendly and might befriend one my new rivals and that would chafe my ass to the extreme".... but no!

idk if this is normal or really bad characterization?

What's your etiquette on asking someone to help you out making a thread for AC if they do help you make it, but they tag you only once every 10 days and all you've gotten out of it is bare minimum for AC. It's going so slow I'm losing interest and the CR chemistry isn't there (It has potential? Maybe?) and feels pretty forced at this point, especially since I've easily made AC on many other threads by now. Would you drop the thread at this point despite asking them to "focus" on the thread in question?

It feels like a jerk thing to do, especially since I was the one who asked, but I'm pretty frustrated at the same time. They act like they're doing me such a big favor for a whole lot of nothing.

That you have to sign up for and wait for an invitation to be emailed to you to and I guess what I'm asking is exactly what does the web site do other than keep track of your word count and give you the equivalent of little gold stars?

you can add your friends and see their wordcounts too, and there are forums where you can hang out with other people doing it to cheer each other on, bounce ideas, check details, and if you live in a reasonably populated area, have meetups to hypothetically all sit your asses down and write together (i've never been, but my friend went to our city's and said it was actually mostly chatting)

my main character has been typed as several things, from intp to entp to infp. i personally see him as the latter. as for the other characters i play, i'd type one as enfp and the other as maybe esfj, but i'm not sure on that.

It's frustrating when you have threads you really want to continue, have all the muse for, but the other person takes so long to respond, and other threads where your heart isn't really in it, but those are the threads that is more available to you, since the other person tags fast.

Guess you can never have exactly what you want even in rp, especially even.

a friend of mine made a comment about how it was weird that i continue to wear a piece of jewelry i got from someone who i had a slightly messy break up with. it was nothing traumatic, but my friend insisted that they would be bothered by the memory of the person too much to enjoy whatever they gave them anymore. do you still keep/use things that were given to you by someone who you no longer talk to, or are those things forever tainted in your mind?

and for related fun, what type of person is your character? the keep it and don't care type, or the purge everything kind?
