rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

a friend of mine made a comment about how it was weird that i continue to wear a piece of jewelry i got from someone who i had a slightly messy break up with. it was nothing traumatic, but my friend insisted that they would be bothered by the memory of the person too much to enjoy whatever they gave them anymore. do you still keep/use things that were given to you by someone who you no longer talk to, or are those things forever tainted in your mind?

and for related fun, what type of person is your character? the keep it and don't care type, or the purge everything kind?

i've tried to find crosscanon pairings that i first played with people i no longer speak to. unfortunately, since it's crosscanon, i've had little success, but it's not tainted for me or anything.

personally i find a kind of power in stuff (especially wearable things like jewelry) that exes gave me. especially if we didn't part on good terms. maybe it makes me a spiteful person lmao but i'm like "bye bitch i still got your bracelet"

depends on the kind of person they turned out to be. i still keep christmas cards on display from friends i broke it off with because they remind me of why i liked them once and they aren't bad memories even if i'd never talk to the friend again.

then there's this character i try to avoid as much as possible in rp because the friend who played them (and the best portrayal played, imo) turned out to be a huge dramatic mess.

your friend needs to stop projecting.

my ex wrote a poem for me once and i got the most personally meaningful line from it tattooed on my wrist after we broke up. it's nothing to do with her specificaly, though i do still have wonderful memories of her, it's about what it meant to me. i couldn't imagine giving up on the happy or meaningful history of a thing just because it's associated with an ex.
