when i order stuff for delivery, i just pay the tip with my card because i don't have cash on me most of the time.

is that a bad thing? are cash tips highly preferred because their bosses can't keep track of it? or something?

I think it's because there's a fee for credit card use for the business so they lose that part plus yeah. Cash tips are reported separately from income on taxes so if you pay cash you can probably fudge a lower amount.

That said it's not the end of the world and is more important that you too at all than how you tip.

starting again from square one after what's going on four years out of the journal role play scene. i'm mostly excited to be going back to a hobby i love, but at the same time pretty nervous because it looks like the only way you get any action is if it's with friends/a clique and i've only kept in touch with the rp friends i've had enough in common with to add on facebook and meet irl (who themselves aren't into rp anymore unfortunately). i'm looking around to see what's changed since 2011/12 and putting out feelers for fandoms i'm in ☺️ hopefully i find people to play with! but in the meantime, how hard is it to get back into? am i completely screwed if i don't have a plurk?

no, but it can make spur-of-the-moment plotting more difficult and you block yourself from potential cr you might not have gotten if you didn't talk to or friend people on plurk. if you forego it you'll just have to be more proactive with pming people and talking to them on cr memes

Anons, I need technical/computer help and Google isn't helping :( My laptop was working fine when I was at school, but as soon as I got home it's only letting me login but won't show my apps for stuff like Firefox/Chrome on the bar, and if I try and click on anything it freezes up. I've tried restarting and shutting it down, but nothing has done anything. My laptop is a Toshiba that has Windows 10; does anyone have an idea what could be going on?

i'm starting to doubt going to comic cons/fandom cons now, rp anons. i feel like if you're not cosplaying and the panels aren't that exciting, then basically you're paying $100 bucks or whatever for a glorified shopping centre.

i want to be enthusiastic about the ones near me but i don't like any of the panel themes and at the end of the con it just feels like a waste of money ):

DWRP Icons

Hey there, so this has been a long time in coming but due to falling out of RP altogether due to grad school and trying to get a writing career off the ground I was wondering if anyone might be interested in taking over the comm dwrp_icons.

The comm uses tags to let people search by canon and the memory system to organize by character and actually has has a nice collection of icons set up and it still gets posts to it. It's pretty easy to maintain and I'd be willing to explain how I keep track of things so whoever takes over has some ideas on efficient ways to run it.

But even though it's really easy to manage it's just an afterthought for me now since I don't RP at all anymore and I figure someone out there might want to make it more of a presence in the RP community so people can benefit from it. (Especially since it has a huuuge collection at this point for people to check out. It has a collection of icons spanning over 200 canons and 459 characters).

So would anyone be interested in taking over it? All the tag requests and indexing by memory are entirely caught up so it'd just be a matter of someone else taking over for the future.

This PSL is going very well, and yes to everything on your list. It's impossible to count the number of dates since not everything is played out. It's mutually agreed that they've met "several times" over a few years.

It's a secret relationship because not all would approve of it, at least not at first. We have a couple of AUs taking place at different times and that helps to keep things fresh.

Mods! I'm just curious, but how much time would you say you spend working on your game weekly? Also, what "position" do you have (head mod/list mod/etc.)?

I'm not modding at the moment but I have modded at a v big game and then one that was also a bit smaller and it tends to vary. I did applications, lists, was a plot mod in both games, and a pseudo-co-head-mod at times, and I want to say I spent anywhere from... Idk, maybe 5 to 18 hours a week working on shit.

Lists aren't particularly difficult, but cross-checking shit against them can take some time, and working out plot details especially amongst certain mod teams can be... tricky. And time consuming. Also weeks when apps were open definitely added to the workload. There's also a lot of cleaning up tags, consolidating info, writing info, answering questions, making sure new things aren't contradicting old things, mod group chats, etc. Plus - and this is just me being anal about things - I do a ton of research to make sure the ideas i'm attempting to put together actually make sense/have some kind of grounded basis at least somewhere, whether it's history, science, or established scifi, etc.

/long explanation you didn't actually ask for, but yeah, some weeks shit's easy peasy and then other weeks it's basically a part-time job on top of the real full time job I already have. But tbh I really do enjoy modding as a whole, despite the flack/whatever that mods tend to get.
