	In the course of one night, the superhero community was changed. Only a few short months ago, three of North America’s most loved and respected heroes vanished in a seemingly innocuous investigation of a sinkhole in the Mojave Desert. They went in alone, and they never came back. The hole filled itself in almost as quickly as it had appeared, and left only small traces of a crystalline mineral, of apparently alien origin. Looking for RoboCop, MCU, Aliens, Warm Bodies, The Last of Us

Looking for some characters to either meme or musebox with.

Looking for Aliens/MCU/Robocop to bounce off a robotic Alex Murphy from RoboCop, to be AUed into the other canon. I'm looking at doing prose, tl;dr, worldbuilding. Basically would like to keep things matching the tone of Aliens or MCU. Am okay with body horror, mind horror, graphicness if the plot fits it. For MCU I generally play Alex as being affiliated with HYDRA. For RoboCop would like to expand more on that gray zone after the press conference and before he starts looking at his own crime scene. For any of these threads, I'm fine with the outcome of Alex being either swayed to the other side or killed to end the plot, I just need a head's up. Open to smut with plot.

Looking for Warm Bodies/The Last of Us to bounce an R off of, to be AUed into the other canon. I'm looking at doing prose or brackets. I'm interested in exploring that place between The New Hunger and pre-Warm Bodies, so I'm more interested in zombies learning to be zombies than playing out the Warm Bodies scenario with them discovering their humanity. Basically same deal with The Last of Us: interested in playing out an infected scenario (mostly because R will probably get immediately killed if it's human-infected D:). Not open to smut.

i love that anons declare any small game to be dead or dying. most games are too big for me nowadays and this discourages more people from apping, so my current small games won't get too big for me to handle.

modanons, what's the hardest part about modding? anything you'd suggest that someone think over before they try to mod a game?

I think the hardest thing about modding, or at least it was when I first started, was finding a balance.

New mods (and I was no exception) tend to be super enthusiastic all the time - which isn't a bad thing, but can lead to burnout or unrealistic standards/expectations to maintain for potential years - and also inclined to either overshare every minute decision, or block out the players from decisions in an attempt to seem somehow professional. I know it took a couple of months before I worked out a balance between what to share and what to keep to myself, and making sure the players were informed without oversharing everything.

Also the balance between being friendly and professional, or being firm with being flexible. Basically, I found that making sure I had set rules and sticking to them helped. It was tough at first, but making sure nobody slipped by AC with one or two comments short and other similar situations made sure that it was fair.

Be prepared for some tough moments. It's always frustrating when instructions aren't read (I can't count how many applications have had to be revised for not following instructions in the app guidelines), but if you're going to succeed and enjoy modding, then you have to learn to just sort of breathe and let it go.

Being punctual has helped me immensely in moderating and not being overwhelmed by it. Set a time at least once a week to maintain the lists, that way they never build up and only take 20-30 minutes to clear up. Make sure you have a calendar with the dates of app rounds (if you're having them), events, HMDs, test drives, etc. And then stick to it, make sure something happens at midnight on the 5th if you've said it will, and if it doesn't because of some unavoidable reason, then make sure you explain why as soon as possible - communication is key.

Make sure you choose your mod team, if you're having one, with care. Don't just pick friends because you like them, make sure that they're reliable and competent in what you're asking of them. Having a mod team that covers a variety of mediums is always a good thing. Make sure you're all updated on big decisions so you appear as a unified front.

With anon comms, I'd say to keep an eye on them, but don't be tempted to comment in your game threads (I read them all, but I don't even comment under something harmless as 'favorites' just as a general rule) or act on information posted there. Make sure any info is brought to you officially with proof.

There's a lot of horror stories about modding and demanding playerbases, but I love it. Sure, there are some tough bits, but nothing is quite as awesome as seeing players excited to play in an event you're running, or seeing them take the game in unexpected directions, or watch them try and figure out the plot clues together. It's wonderful and makes me grin like an idiot every time. Even after two years, I still love modding so much. So don't let horror stories put you off, you just have to remember that, as with anything, there's rough and smooth, and not to let the small rough patches spoil the experience.
