Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

the reynard the fox plot had a limit of how many people could be brought along iirc, closed from the start. this redgate plot looks to be the same. i wouldn't expect an ooc post from either of them and in any case it'd probably get lost in the flood of intros.

then they don't really count as plot variety, if not everyone is informed about them or even has a chance to try to sign up for them? so they're not relevant right now.

not as game plots, no. there's generally a singular game plot that happens that encompasses everyone for the month and allows for boons. after that, the rest is in the players' hands. if they don't make an effort to reach out and try to start things, nothing's going to get done.

already said in this thread; be the change you want to see. go post in the ooc comm and ask about plot ideas. say you'd like (x) to do something this month that's not just boon event related. i'm almost willing to bet you a month's paid that you'll get at least one person to get back to you about a player plot.

which is fine, but i'm just pointing out that holding up those closed player plots that have no information/open sign up available to people as plot variety which everyone can get into doesn't really work. yes, people can make their own plots. the complaint was about the mod plots, however, and therefore arguing "oh some people do things that not everyone can readily find out about or get involved in though" doesn't address the complaint of a lack of variety with mod run plots?

i personally do not really give a fuck either way, but this argument doesn't actually address the original complaint at all.

sorry, but the argument to me looked like it was someone getting upset that these 'plots' weren't open more or could only be found/talked about via plurk and friends when they were small player plots in the first place.

the game itself doesn't have a shit load of npc mod plots all the time because keeping track of one mod plot per month as well as how ever many player plots with npc involvement are going on is work enough. everyone has access to the same amount of plots per month; one. if you want more, it's up to you as the player to find a way to do that. talk to the mods if you don't want to go to the player base for things. ask if there's something you can get your character to do. you find out by asking, anon. not just by waiting for information that won't come along unless you look for it. why should the mods have to keep putting out more than what they are when they've already expressed that it's not going to be a plot-heavy game. if people are looking for something that's going to have them busy all month every month, this is not the game for them.

this is kind of what i'm surprised about, tbh. it doesn't advertise as a plot heavy game. one optional plot per month plus whatever you the player want to get up to. that's it. you and everyone else in the game apped in knowing that, and if you didn't know that, then I'm going to assume you didn't read the faq or premise properly.

The OP's comment was:

eh. a little disappointed, seeing as we JUST had a 'kill the hostile creatures to get your boon' event in june, and there was another in april. there are only so many ways i can play 'character slays thing' without getting same-y.

i hope they're not planning on having every second month be a monster-slaying event (especially if that's the only event as it is this month), because that's going to get really stale even if each monster has a different twist.

which is what I assume ayrt was talking about, not the (possibly different?) anon who was having trouble getting involved. OP's issue was that we've had three fairly similar plots in five months of game now, not that there's only one a month or that player plots are hard to get involved in.

i'm the anon the anon you replied to was replying to

yeah, that's what i was referring to? someone is bringing up "well make your own plots" up in reference to what boils down to "i hope there is more variety than kill the monster plots", and held up as examples of "there is so variety" two closed, unannounced player plots. which are fine, but the complaint was about the mod plots.

and the anon who was replying to me seems to think i have a problem getting involved when i was actually really just pointing out that the arguments people were presenting did absolutely nothing to address the complaint. i think i tripped their defensive reflex or something, i don't even fucking know.
