UBW TV series, HF movie. Thoughts

A strange choice considering that HF is the least standalone route, but I'm happy to get more Fate.

If I was organising it, I would have merged the two routes into one and started incorporating more HF stuff from the episode 13 mark onwards. The summoning of True Assassin would be a great "shit just got real" moment, especially for those expecting a straight UBW adaptation.

Well, the HF movie would work fine if they assumed that the viewer watched the UBW TV Anime first.

"You only understand the movie if you've watched the TV series" is not the best business plan.

...You do realize that many anime series have movies that either supplement or conclude the canon, right?

Plus think about how many versions of F/SN have existed over in Japan by now. So it's more like, "You will only understand the movie if you've encountered one or more of the following, which includes..."

Yeah, kind of like how Gundam got before they started the AUs. You had to watch three anime series to get the most out of Char's Counterattack.

Well, I was thinking more like how they're releasing a Darth Vader comic book that bridges A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. It'll probably not make a lot of sense to people who haven't watched the Star Wars movies, but enough time's passed there's a huge audience of people who've already watched the movies and it's part of a push for the franchise.

And so Heaven's Feel the Movie won't make sense for people who haven't watched the anime or played the visual novels, but various versions of F/SN (plus Ataraxia and Zero) have existed since 2004 over there so I think it's saturated enough that it's definitely not as risky as it might first seem.

wasn't the new tv series supposed to be not following any of the routes? i think i would have preferred that, but i'm okay with it being ubw too - i'm definitely glad it's not fate, anyway

hf movie though... it's my favorite route and i'm so stoked it's getting animated! and a movie budget will be great for it, but i kind of wish it had been a series of ovas instead, a movie might be too short

At least it's not the Fate route, it might mean we get figures of Rin and everyone else for once!

Honestly UBW suits a 24 episode anime a bit more than the Fate and HF routes. Since UBW draws in all the people who like fights and that sort of thing and it's standalone enough with limited knowledge of the series so they can draw in more people. (it looks like they're doing the part of the common route anyway so it's not like things won't get explained)

HF movie on the other hand... guess they're going to cut all the H content and that sort of thing to get it decent enough to air in a theater.

Well, I mean, they've already cut H content from HF before. The Vita/PS2 ports.

well rin and the others have gotten figures, it's just that saber has gotten a lot, a lot more

honestly this anime probably won't change that, saber will always be the franchise's cash cow

it's easier to clean it up for a movie than it would for a tv show tbh.
