imagine that your otp is together (dating/married) and sleeping in the same bed. one day, they wake up with a third bedmate, who is a clone of one of the characters.

so if your otp is alice/bob, now there's either alice/bob/alice or bob/alice/bob. none of them know wtf's going on or how to fix the situation and there's no way to tell the original and the clone apart.

depending on the situation, how does your otp react?

naming the otp is optional but i'm curious how different otps would react. like if one character would suggest a threesome or if the "twins" would accuse each other of being an imposter.

i've been in a sol game for a while now and while i'm having a pretty good time, what i really miss is a game with plot, plot, plot. things with a lot of action, and there was always something going on. characters would go through things and we'd get some major development from it and it was just great to play in.

Posted an app for a character and randomly got the incredible urge to play their canonmate in the game instead. Has this ever happened to you? Did you stick with the original app and play since they were your first choice or did you swap apps out? I'm so on the fence now!

i wrote an app for one character and reserved and gathered their samples and then changed my mind and apped their canonmate, though i hadn't posted the app yet. best decision i've made. not only do i love playing my character, someone great picked up the one i didn't and now i get to have threads with them too.

HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION

two roleplayers in your game/friend group meet up irl and one (terry) stays at the other's house (mary). mary lets terry use her wi-fi so they can roleplay.

later after terry leaves, mary cries to either her friends/mods/both that someone posted gore spam/death threats in her hmd and the ip address matches the one her and terry have access to. terry says that it wasn't her but there's no proof either way. incognito mode is a thing so it's not like you can check their internet history for proof.

alternatively, someone with the ip address that mary and terry have access to tried to start drama somewhere else on dreamwidth where ip addresses are tracked.

who do you side with? what if mary and terry both have a clean rep? what if both of them are drama queens? what if one has a history of rp drama and the other doesn't?

inspired by me suddenly remembering when a "friend" came over to my house and got me banned from my favorite pet site by using my referral links to make fake accounts on my own computer 10+ years ago. :(

it's not what you thought it was in execution, or it doesn't scratch the itch you thought it would, or the ooc atmosphere doesn't quite agree with you, etc. for whatever reason you're like uh oh... je regrette

would you drop immediately before you get too involved in the game despite all your previous hype, or give it a month or two just to see if it clicks after all?

DUMB QUESTIONS FOR DUMB JOURNAL RP GAMES

1. if you wanted to app to a game...
A. and you would be apping into a cast, would you contact them before reserving/apping?
B. and you contacted the cast beforehand, how would you respond if someone else wanted to app but didn't contact the cast like you did?
C. other than potentially contacting the cast, reading the rules, posting on the tdm, reserving, writing an app, and submitting an app, would you do anything else special? like post on dear_mun/player, ask questions in the game's anon comm threads, whatever.

2. if you posted on a test drive meme...
A. would you state your apping intentions? ("only playing goku on the tdm for funsies, probably won't app" or "both keith and shiro on this page are me but i only plan on apping shiro")
B. and you were interested in apping, how would you respond if someone else posted on the tdm saying they intended to app?
C. same situation as B but they haven't mentioned whether they're apping or playing in the tdm for fun, how would you respond?

3. if you had to deal with an app challenge...
A. how would you react if the other person wished you luck?
B. how would you react if the other person asked you if you were serious about apping?
C. how would you react if the other person asked you not to app?
D. how would you ask if B or C happened but it wasn't the other person that asked, but one of their friends?
E. if the game has a "whoever reserves first gets to app this round" rule and doesn't allow app challenges, how would you react if you beat the other person to reserving and they shit-talked you for it? (if you talked to the in-game cast and they didn't)
F. same as E but what if they talked to the in-game cast or are friends with them and you didn't talk to them?

4. if you were already in the game...
A. and a potential castmate wanted to app, would you expect them to contact you first? or would you message them to be polite?
B. and a potential castmate contacted you, but someone who didn't contact you apped, how would you respond?
C. and a wanker was interested in apping as your castmate, how would you respond? if it depends on their rep/wank history, please explain.

let's say someone in your family or friend group lashes out at either multiple people or everyone. let's call him david.

david didn't post a single status on facebook or plurk that said "fuck all of you, you're a bunch of fucking assholes!" instead he talked to everyone privately to tell them "i fucking hate you, julie, nobody gives a fuck about your fucking furbabies! cats are fucking gay, go have some REAL kids!", "everyone thinks you're annoying as fuck when you complain about your seizures affecting your ability to find a job, mark, get the fuck over it!" etc.

for what it's worth, MOST of the nasty things you've heard about him saying to people are legitimately shitty things, with only some of them being like "nobody likes dandruff, ashley, they don't like your flaky bullshit either!" or "they're good dogs, brent!" in fact, some of the things david yelled at people for aren't even true because david just assumed shit.

after the incident, you decided to avoid david like the plague because he's a whiny little shit. he never personally apologized to you or anyone you know of, even years later. some people in your family/friend group forgive him despite that but some others don't because they felt that he was seriously out of line. some of us realize that david was (and could still be) really hurting but it's no fucking excuse to lash out at people about unrelated shit. (context for my situation: david's parent, not david himself, was given up for adoption and our family adopted them. when david found out, he was upset that we weren't his "real" family and that his "real" grandparents "didn't want him (david)")

1. what are your thoughts on david, years later?

2. what if you found out that he posted a status on facebook or plurk saying "sorry for lashing out guys, i was an asshole" even though some people unfriended him and some people were never friends with him on social media in the first place?

you stopped being friends with someone. you didn't make a big deal publicly but it is scorched earth. they recently have a namedrop or game thread namedrop unrelated to your personal drama and it gets big but you haven't participated. wankgate mentions you a few times in conjunction with them (as their buttbuddy, or ship partner, or likely whiteknight or whatever.) not many people know this isn't true anymore so even if you don't log in your former friend will know you were in the wanky thread and might assume you are wanking on them and start retaliatory shit.
