1a. Yes, assuming that my character would have some impact on the cast (for instance, if I app a major antagonist or a protagonist with close ties to some members of the cast). In general, I like knowing what I app into, but it's not a must unless my character has to interact with certain castmates to remain IC.
1b. Don't care.
1c. Maybe checking to see if there's any ongoing drama on anoncomms about the game or cast. I take these things with a grain of salt, though.

2a. I tend to leave a little note if I'm testdriving several characters on the same meme.
2b. Shrug and keep on keeping on. App plans can change at a moment's notice, both theirs and mine, and there's no use crying over milk that hasn't even been spilled yet. I do tend to read a thread or two of theirs, just to see where they're at characterisation-wise (but that's more to do with me liking to read other people's portrayals of the same character).
2c. Same as 2b.

3a. Unless it's a weirdly condescending message, I'd just return the favour.
3b. Assuming I really want to app that character, I'd let them know I'm serious about it, in a nice-and-excited sort of way.
3c. I'd let them know how super excited I am about playing this character in this particular game. Honestly, there's no winning this one, and I'm going to app whoever I want.
3d. Honest. Excitement. In their face. Unless they're unavoidable castmates, in which case I'd probably back down, because there's no winning that one. If something about the messages strikes me as seriously unpleasant/unwelcoming/ugh, I might let the mods know about it (that goes for b and c as well). It's a last resort type thing, though.
3e. Pastebin/screencap that shit, so I can take it to the mods if they a) are already a player in the game or b) app in at some point in the future and try to stir up shit again in the future. One moment of bitching isn't enough for that, I don't plan to react in any way at all, really, but if push comes to shove, it's good to have some deets.
3f. Same as above: gather the deets, don't react at all otherwise.

4a. I'd message them if they're planning to app someone who is either very close or very opposed to my character, just because it's nice to be on the same page. I don't expect them to reach out first, though.
4b. Don't care and won't hold it against them.
4c. Depends on their history, I'm going with the default "nutjobs, rl abusers, toxic waste" to the mods, "pretentious and flakey and a bit daft" into the idagaf corner.
