Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

ok anons so say you were all hype about apping to this game, you talked about it on plurk with your buds, felt out your potential castmates, had a great time on the tdm and everything, and then when you finally get in and start playing

it's not what you thought it was in execution, or it doesn't scratch the itch you thought it would, or the ooc atmosphere doesn't quite agree with you, etc. for whatever reason you're like uh oh... je regrette

would you drop immediately before you get too involved in the game despite all your previous hype, or give it a month or two just to see if it clicks after all?

in this situation rn and have been in the past. i always stick around for another month just to see if anything interesting comes up but if things are still looking dull, you have your answer. sometimes nothing comes of it, but i've also had awesome and unexpected things happen in a month's time. good luck anon

yeah that's what i was thinking of doing. i have another game in mind as well that's on an app cycle and that should give me enough of a grace period to test the waters before i make up my mind on what i want to do

just wanted to make sure it wasn't considered stringing people along or anything! good luck to u too

i don't consider it stringing people along if you're actively trying to do things and get a feel for the game, even if you're lukewarm about the game right now. if it doesn't work out in the end that's that, but you should be fine if you're giving yourself some time to find something you're excited for about the game. you're good

i always drop immediately because i hate feeling like i'm idling/squatting. i should probably chill and give it a chance but it gives me anxiety to just sit in a game doing nothing and making no effort at all.

oh, and the 'this is a waste of time i don't want to make any cr just to inevitably drop it' hits hard too

If I apped, it's likely because I really really want to play the character, and I already shopped around and this game seems like the best bet. So it comes down to whether there were other games I liked, or whether this one is still my best option even if it's not exactly what I hoped.
