Has anyone here ever developed a speech problem later in life?

I've been noticing these past few years that it's harder and harder for me to string sentences together. Either my brain seems to be processing what I want to say faster than my lips can keep up, or I suddenly forget how I was going to say a particular sentence and stumble over it. Even small things, like saying a word wrong/using the wrong word (usually a similar one) just in the middle of a sentence for no reason, has been happening more and more often.

I was very eloquent in high school, and this definitely didn't start until college. I want to go see someone about it, but is this the kind of thing you can bring up to a normal doctor? What could I even do about it? I've considered I might just have a form of Adult ADD but I don't have problems concentrating at all. Just talking.

Not sure about Discedo's cast, but the shit with Steph reminded me that I think I used to RP what had to be her good twin or something. I was like 14/15 and I don't know how old she was except 'older'. In spite of my super obvious crush on her she never took advantage even though she tended to play pretty sexual characters and she recognized my depression when it set in was much more than teenage moodiness and pushed me to talk to my parents and get help. Tbh I'm pretty sure I'm only alive today because she was looking our for me and as someone who lived with depression herself she recognized all the red flags for me no one else noticed.

That was like 15 years ago now though, journal rp was just barely becoming a thing. All the contact info I had for her is to email servers that have long since gone down, her handle want unique enough to track down again, and she never wanted to trade IRL contact info due to our age differences and not wanting to be a creeper. I just wish I could thank her for looking out for me like she did.

How many games are you in?

Just curious about the average number of games people RP in at one time. Number of games, number of characters per game, discounting psls and memes and such. What's a good, manageable number without it being too little and getting bored, and too many and spreading yourself too thin?

I have three characters in one game, two in another. Both are slow games.

I think it's all entirely subjective. It's about the pace of the game or games, how plot-intensive the games are, how fast a writer you are, whether you're modding or helper modding or are just a player, how much time RL responsibilities like jobs and school eat up, how much of a social life you have IRL, whether or not you have issues that sap your concentration like health problems, etc etc etc.

Asking other people about it isn't going to help you that much. At most you'll find out what others perceive as too little or too much but what matters is how you feel about it.

When I'm not sure what I can handle, I usually start small and slow. One character here, another there, one game here, another there. I do it really slowly, giving myself time to adjust with each game and character, and eventually stop just short of it feeling like too much work to keep up. If I ever have to drop a character or game, I don't make the same mistake and try to bite off more than I can chew again unless I legitimately have some of my time freed up. I'll just stay at whatever characters or games I have for a while.

Damn, it looks like I might have to end up dropping my one and only character because life suddenly got super busy and complicated. And it's gonna be like that until next fall. The problem is that my character has great CR and is involved in a lot of different plots. If I dropped, I'd be letting a lot of people and some plots down.

I don't just want to drop with my character suddenly going poof, but it looks like I won't have time to get any closure or anything like that either. I'm going to miss everyone.

this piece of commission art my friend got of their OC is so fucking terrible that i can't stop laughing hysterically when i see it. the anatomy is horribly misshapen and the character looks like it has two chins jutting out of its face.

my friend really likes it, though, so i'd never openly criticize it. it's just... i feel bad for them for paying for such an ugly piece of shit. it's like the artist didn't even try.

Something with Daemons or something similar to Daemons. I just want the chance to play my character in a game with other characters, where their souls are on the outside. It doesn't need to follow HDM. It could be an entirely different fantasy setting/concept.

I want to see more fantasy games that aren't just factions/gods or actually-horror-in-disguise

question for those of you who thread with slow taggers (like me):

i like to let my partner know i'm still interested in a thread and often apologize for my slowness. however i've noticed a lot of comments on here saying that's really annoying. so i'm curious, what do you personally prefer?

1. slow thread partner apologizing (not constantly or anything, just every once in awhile) or explaining why they're slow.

2. slow thread partner saying nothing at all and just tagging when they can.

if your pace is consistent there's no need to apologize, it's clear you're just on the slow side, and it's ok to let someone know at the beginning of a thread that you're a slow tagger if you're concerned about that.

if there's an unusually long break in your tagging (super busy week, vacation, w/e) I think it's reasonable to add a little "sorry for the delay, rl got crazy this week!" type ooc note when you get back to the thread.

basically: don't apologize for anything that's normal and that you won't change (like your average tagging speed) but it's fine to mention those things as a heads-up when you start threading.

do apologize for something that's unusual and that might make them wonder if you've dropped the thread/don't want to continue.
