Trapped in the city of one loo

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

I explained where I was coming from on the off chance maybe I was just entirely tone deaf in my initial post but I appreciate the additional feedback, it makes me feel less crazy ;) I really did just want to give actual OP the best chance of getting good care right off the bat.

Absolutely make an appointment to see your normal physician (usually called your "PCP" or "GP")

right off the bat

nice that you know the vernacular but probably 80% of the public don't, particularly if they've never needed to see a doctor outside of yearly checkups. this is the kind of thing that most people learn either while caretaking for other people or while going through intense medical issues themselves so maybe cool your jets, christ.

what kind of functioning adult doesn't know a) that a GP is your regular physician, and b) to write down a list of your symptoms before going to the doctor

i might know that a gp is a general practitioner, but i sure as hell don't write down symptoms before going. like, ever. i make a mental list, yes, but no one i know writes that shit down.

This actually is important for people with HMO type insurance plans in the US where it says PCP right on their insurance card to designate their regular doctor they must see. If they go to a specialist first, the insurance won't pay for it after the fact.
