the only thing i dislike about writing apps is starting the personality section. i know what i want to say, and once i get going it flows, but somehow i can never think of a good way to start it.

help me, anons! i don't want to us "at first glance" or "the first thing to note", but first sentence starters elude me.

Pick a trait that stands out to you for your character. Start with that and then move on.

"Don't let the [insert physical feature] fool you," and explain why it may be deceptive.

Or "If there was ever a "what is says on the tin" character, then X is it when it comes to [insert trait or first impression]." And explain why.

Or you can start by describing their main goal or motivation in canon and how their personality fits into it and what it means for them as a character.

I wish there were more AU games. Not jamjars that allow AU characters, but games that require you to adapt a character into a native of its setting. I guess people aren't huge fans of these on DW but it would be nice to have at least one of them :( For a while the closest thing was Save the Earth, but... well.

be direct but polite, and if it's in a public setting, maybe bring it somewhere private. i said something like, "thank you for offering, but our threads in the past haven't had what i'm looking for." i.e. consistency and non-flakiness.

man i wish there were more deliberately short-term games around. like you go in knowing that there's a plot with an ending and the game is expected to take maybe a year or whatever and then it's done, no dragging on indefinitely or degrading into slow-paced sol because the mods ran out of ideas.

i expect those games are hard to mod though. shame.
