This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

the characters mine was paired with for event stuff are really bad at tagging back and seem all around inactive, at least this month. I’m watching the other groups get stuff done and feeling left out

all of a sudden things aren't clicking with my rp bff. we don't talk like we used to and we rarely write with each other anymore. i really miss hanging out with them, but i know they don't owe me their time. it's really getting me down and i don't know how to approach them about it.

i think it's because i'm under an unbelievable amount of stress but i'm able to focus on one single thread right now which i feel guilty for but i guess it's better than nothing?

going through an awful moment of paranoia where i feel like my character is wildly ooc and everyone i play with is just humoring me by patting me on the head and going 'its ok ur fine bb'. even though i know this isn't true.

so many good threads get dropped just because i live in a different timezone than the average american rper and i just have to go to sleep at some point (which is usually butt o'clock in the morning) and can't tag back for a few hours.

all my partners in my games have ships they're passionate about and i'm happy for them but i wish i had a ship with my character and a partner who was into it and would talk passionately about it with me. =(

All my friends leaving the game for a new one and I can't follow

(because the characters I want to play are taken, because I hate the premise, or because it's very small and tight knit and someone i had an awkward falling out with is there)

I know interests change and it's inevitable but it's always a bummer

my castmate keeps making plans and never going through with them, saying they have no creativity, which is understandable, but then openly links to their two new games they're actively playing in while being silent on this game for almost two months. it's okay not to feel a place anymore but just say so

i've got three psls with my rp partner right now that are all basically the same thing. my character takes care of theirs. different kinks for flavor but...that's it. the last thing we played with any focus on my characters got dropped an age ago.

i ship a rarepair and lately i've actually found a few other people who ship it too!

... except they've all flaked out after a few tags after chatting with me and plotting and telling me how much they love the ship and how they were excited to get to play it out.

Used to RP a lot with my partner until she joined a game and got into a canon I am not interested in, and now we barely speak and never tag. They're not the type who can focus on PSLs if they're in game, so all our old PSLs got dropped.

I tried to do the TDM of the game twice but I don't get bites, not even from my partner, and it just feels bad. I'm happy for them because they're having a lot of fun, but I miss talking and playing with them.

got super excited to tag someone, went to look at their character profile and... they listed them being from the wrong country. dumped the starter I wrote because if they get that most basic aspect of the character wrong (and it's pretty big given the setting, it's very much not "oops he's Canadian when I said he was American") they probably don't give a damn about the actual characterization.

i would like to find an rp partner, but i don't know how to even start looking. the two i really enjoyed from a long time ago have moved on and we just randomly clicked. haven't had that happen in a long time and when i reach out to people it doesn't go anywhere or threads get dropped.

can't tell if it's just the state of rp now or if i'm just a shitty writer. i don't even know, i'm just depressed and want a friend.

I got critbombed and now every tag is a second guess. How do you regain confidence? I'm getting back into things slowly with people I trust, but I can't imagine doing a game again.

the catch 22 of playing ocs, tbh.

you have to be more proactive as a rule, tagging out and having tons of info readily available, because you've got no existing published canon to back you up. you basically have to market your own character/worldbuilding, and that means the chance of sparking engagement from others is generally much lower compared to not only popular canons but even more obscure ones that can at least be googled.

however, being more proactive also opens you up to more grumbling, backbiting or lowkey wank over being "pushy" or "shoving your character everywhere" by players who simply don't care about/want to play with or see OCs at all, even if you aren't actually spamming your character or ignoring boundaries.

not trying to sound like a persecuted polly; i understand and accept that the first part is just how things are in most dwrp circles. it's the second part that bums me out because geez, man, i wanna play too and i'm not gonna get anything if i only slap up toplevels....

Unless I have all the details and ins and outs sorted way in advance, I can't start a thread to save my life. I've been RPing for years and it's always been a struggle for me and I don't know why. I can respond to pretty much anything tag thrown my way but if it's up to me start, I completely blank out. Even with prompts. This is mostly the reason why I never play in games. It sucks because there are characters I see around on memes that I want to tag but coming up with something to start with is next to impossible for me.

I used to write fanfic and nowadays, I don't write anything because, yup, starting it off and executing the ideas I have in mind is very difficult for me.

A family member of mine died recently and I can't manage to get it together enough to do even the simplest shortest tags in my inbox. I feel like I'm screwing over all the awesome people I've been tagging with by ignoring them like this. I finally pulled myself together enough to post a public apology plurk explaining what happened but I still feel bad for blanking on them like this. I know I shouldn't be falling apart like this given other people in my family have already resumed life as normal and I should too, but... it's just not something I can do? This is the first time in almost a week I've even gotten out of bed for more than an hour, tbh.

On the one hand I hope my CR can forgive me but on the other hand if they can't, that's okay, because they deserve better.
