i just went and checked and i have all of 2 people that have their age on their hover plurks. most just have gender and one person on my list has not stating. pretty sure that's the norm for a lot of people. just like yours might be the norm for a lot of people too. doesn't make it weird.

i dont wanna assume this, but it does sound like someone who got burned a few times and is projecting their experiences onto people who aren't the ones that burned them.

as the anon you're talking about, that's fair. i've tried playing female characters in games before and had to play at pulling teeth to get gen cr, let alone smut cr. in a smut game, smut cr is prioritized, as are ships and friend groups tagging each other. and that's not a bad thing. but a lot of female character players wind up getting frustrated and dropping and picking up male chars, which adds to the problem.

it's been tested and proven true a lot of times. have problems getting cr as a female character? app in a male character and watch it roll in. i'd be willing to have a poll run to see how many people have had this problem. note that i'm not saying that about this specific game only, as far as i know, this game's new. but for smut games in general? unless you've got a friend circle to app in with and play off of before you even join, it is an incredibly hard uphill battle to play as a female character, whereas someone could join in fresh off the boat and not know anyone in the game with a male character (especially a popular one) and get all the cr. it sucks. i would love to play a female character again, but never in a smut game. not worth the stress of not being sure i can even make ac, let alone getting anywhere with cr.

It's possible, but you'll probably need to know people and nepotism your way in, get the right opportunity and haul a lot more ass than normal, or go to some trade school instead. If this is unwanted, then my bad, but basically you need three things for a good career:

1. Connections
2. Experience
3. Education, even if it's fucking pointless for what you're doing

And the less of one you have, the more you'll have to compensate for it with the other two. So one of my directors only had a high school degree and was shit at her job, but as she was besties with the CEO she was hired on as a director. Another boss I had was also shit at her job, but she'd been with the company for long enough that they promoted her. That sort of thing.

hey, anon, they're OLD (40+), THEY know what REAL pain is like! don't you know that young people don't have real health problems?! /s. they're the same people who assume that you don't deal with "real" stress if you don't have kids, loads of bills to pay, etc. would i be going to multiple appointments every month and paying out the ass for medicare bills (monthly premiums and co-pays) if i wasn't sick?!

i actually lost medicare recently (tl;dr: on the disabled adult child program and dad got kicked off for some weird reason, me being eligible is contingent on him being eligible) and some of my relatives act like my health problems aren't a big deal because i'm still alive after 3 months of not being able to take medication! fuck you, i've been trying to reapply for medicaid and they've been dicking me around for bullshit reasons. i finally admitted myself to the er earlier this month and i got some treatment and 2 weeks worth of meds from a crisis center. some of my relatives are like "well, you got your meds! you're okay now, right?" and it's like... it takes fucking forever to get approved for medicaid, 2 weeks of meds isn't a lot! the crisis unit gave me some resources for low-income counseling centers but there's no guarantee that they can give me free meds. :/ a few of my medications were switched to cheaper alternatives and i can't even afford them without insurance! i'm broke!

one of my relatives actually texted me "i'm glad you're feeling better and got your meds! i emailed you about a place that's hiring, check it out!" it's something i'm not physically capable of doing. :/ and i honestly don't want to get a job, not be able to refill my meds, and then get so depressed and achey that i get fired. i can barely function at my office job!

yes, i've definitely gotten the "rise above it" speech. "you can't let your fibromyalgia run your life, anon!" yes, i know, and medications help with that, so stop whining about how fucking "dangerous" they are. there are no medications that won't give somebody on this planet side effects. ibuprofen has apparently been linked to heart disease, too much tylenol can kill your liver, aspirin can be dangerous for kids with viral infections, nyquil can apparently lead to hallucinations or seizures in high doses. fuck, everything's fucking dangerous! some people are allergic to peanuts, peanuts are evil! wait, wasn't there a girl who was allergic to water? water is evil too! you can crash a car and die, ban cars! like, come on... i deal with very few side effects, dealing with mild hand tremors is a lot fucking better than constant pain and misery. if i try out a medication and it gives me side effects i don't like, i stop taking it, simple.

have you gotten the "you shouldn't be putting so many chemicals in your body!" spiel? well, water's a chemical, can't have that dihydrogen monoxide shit. marijuana has chemicals, so bad! oxygen? also chemicals, much danger very deadly. apparently otc pain killers are acceptable... even though they have chemicals!!! milk has calcium. bananas have potassium! chemicals!!!!!!!

a few of them have actually bashed my medication because i'm not supposed to take alcohol with most of it... even though most people i know know that i can't stand the taste of alcohol even when it's mixed with a non-alcoholic drink. seriously, i'd rather spit it out than swallow it. having an excuse to refuse alcohol is a huge fucking pro for me!

Looking at the OOC comm, this game seems to have really high turnover. Is it just from the really full on worldbuilding?

thirding this! even if the main protagonist doesn't scratch your itch, there's bound to be someone in drakengard 3 that you enjoy. you could count the morally upright characters in that game on one hand and have fingers to spare, but none of them are totally heartless. it runs terribly (like, it drops to ~5 FPS on a regular basis...) so the anon who suggested using an LP is dead on. on the other hand, if you can get through it, it has one of the coolest final bosses of all time! so you win either way.

the original drakengard is also a valid option, though it's pretty tedious to play and i feel like the cast probably has less depth. none of them are good people, but they're also not obnoxious, mustache-twirling assholes.

looking for a good second-world fantasy book to sink my teeth into. not interested in mercedes lackey or kushiel stuff.

authors i've liked: china mieville, joe abercrombie, grrm. if it has elements of Weird or otherwise goes at genre tropes i'll probably be into it

old player who had to leave a while ago here, but serious query: how many characters do you have, and are they similar character types? I'm a former player and while I usually had good CR with SOMEONE, I definitely had some characters that just Did Not Click with certain people even though I tried to start CR with multiple muses of theirs for months - and then I apped someone new and very different and things suddenly worked with them. sometimes there are narrative chemistry elements that are really hard to pin down but can have a huge effect on response.

Just 2B for now, but I, uh, am considering playing Jackass. She speaks to me.

I know areas in the USA that have dense Deaf populations have sub screenings but I also know nowadays a lot of Deaf youth don't really bother with movies as much as they used to because of things like netflix, hulu, internet and texting. The scope of deaf youth communicating has expanded a lot these days.

Yeah. I guess because of spoilers coming before you see it on screen but like. If that's such a problem, people should be complaining to sub companies not the sub themselves.

feburary was a pretty bad month for a lot of people in the game judging from my timeline, but overall i dont think the turnover rate is all that different from any game its size. they average over 30 apps a cycle and seem to have gotten steadily bigger for a while.

the worldbuilding is pretty intense but its what has kept my interest about the game between the pretty big chunks of sol.

If you're just getting into this shitstain of a fandom (and I say this being balls deep in this fucking place) then don't listen to this idiot. Only go to the VN if you want more "in-depth" ~pure canon~ knowledge and have literally hours and hours to waste trawling through it. Even loving this franchise, I will tell you that reading the VN is not an enjoyable experience.

If you are new to the franchise, watch some of the animated adaptations, see if you like/can stomach the themes (it's not a cutesy franchise, there are a lot of dark themes in general) and see how deeply it sucks you in and only then decide if you hate yourself enough to trail back through the VN, but two of the three routes have already been made into series and you don't gain much more by going to a clunkily translated ecchi VN these days.

And the above anon is an idiot for another reason: Zero has all the themes of the series, the only difference is there's more wide spread suffering that isn't just confined to the girls of the series to prime them for the protag's healing dick. Zero has a lot of flaws, but the whole franchise has a lot of flaws and acting like Zero doesn't feed into FSN and FSN doesn't feed into Zero while bemoaning the beauty of the VN is neckbeard talk, plain and simple.

iunno about you, but i generally like the things i engage with? like i spend a lot of time in this fandom because i like fate. saying you hate it five separate times just makes you sound self-loathing. Fate has flaws, both the original VN and its seventeen offshoots, but I like it. It isn't a shitstain. It's good. It touches on some very effecting themes in an extremely unique way, has one of my favorite casts in all of fiction, and is full of sincere affection for every one of its characters, even when dark things are happening.

alf/z has 4 female characters and one of them has a rape backstory and dies, one of them dies five times, one of them dies, and the other one has her entire world view destroyed. f/sn has the female characters actually grow and succeed and be happy. f/sn is not a dark story about edgy characters suffering, it's a story about how people try and live their lives despite what they've been through and what's been done to them. And acting like the male cast doesn't get their lickings is just absurd on its face.

f/z is just suffering for the sake of suffering, the only character who survives and is better for the experience is Waver, and Waver's also pretty inconsequential to the plot despite how much screentime he eats up. Really, that's my issue with Fate/Zero - Urobuchi just doesn't have the affection for his cast that Nasu does. Nasu gives every single character up to and including Zouken and True Assassin sympathetic backstories and goes to the trouble of making some offshoot or another where they get to be happy. Urobuchi callously kills off major characters and barely gets into their heads.

That said, I have read the VN recently and enjoyed it. I have recommended it to people recently and they enjoyed it. It is the core of the canon. It isn't some hidden secret that should be shunned from all sight, it is the thing this canon is built on. Sure, it has flaws, but F/Z has twenty minutes of Risei and Tokiomi walking around Kirei to explain the plot, the deen adaptation of Fate is... the deen adaptation of Fate, and UBW really screws up a lot of the later fights and scenes.

If someone doesn't enjoy the VN a few hours in or something, then yeah, they can look into other parts of the canon, but I don't get why you're acting like it's the worst thing to ever be visited upon the world. It is the centerpiece of this entire thing. They should probably check that out before anything else, because it is both the best part of this series (everything else is either it through a kind of less effective lens or an offshoot of some element of it) and the main part of this series.
