something clever and fun and heartwarming, but action-oriented (NOT slice of life.) i'm looking for a feel good show where the good guys usually win the day, the bad guys go to jail, and i get to watch some fight scenes, rollicking shenanigans, and/or fun banter in the middle

(basically i'm looking for a new show to replace the leverage-shaped-hole in my life)

i'm not necessarily looking for "something similar to x" i just want to know what anons liked. or what i should avoid because they're trash because of bad acting/jokes/whatever.

for example, i've heard a lot of people shit on dog with a blog and i didn't like the one episode i watched. i've heard victorious is good but i haven't checked it out yet.

i don't mind anons bringing up flaws with the shows like "it was made in the 90's so it's a little dated" or "it has that dumb "smart naggy mom and dumb fun dad" trope" as long as you don't give any big spoilers.

non-english shows are fine as long as there are subtitles available. preferably nothing pre-90's but i'm open to anything. no preference for channel/studio. any video size/quality is fine as long as it's not potato-quality. any genre is fine.

Fluffy slice of life bullshit, like that's it. That's all I want. I know there's stuff out there but I always have a hard time finding these things. And for the love of fuck no K-On shit as I absolutely detest that. Also already watch Love Live.

On the other side of the coin, more fighting-like animes that focus more on less physically punching things and more abilities like magic or whatever? I am a DBZ and Jojos junkie, so that should say enough on that end.

This is pretty specific and I might not describe it too well, but here goes! I'm looking for canons that have two characters set up as love interests/shipteased, and for most of the story it seems like A is the one falling first while B's feelings are more unclear, but then it's revealed that B's been in love with A the whole time, even before what we'd thought was their first interaction in the beginning.

I really enjoyed this twist in Yuri on Ice and Double Arts, and I'd like to find other series that have done something like this if I can! Any medium is fine!

fantasy canons that are also period dramas. Temeraire is already on my to-read list and I've really enjoyed Stardust, Howl's Moving Castle and Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell.

I'm fine with any sort of medium except video games. Please don't recommend any super long series though!

now that i think about it... what good web series would anons recommend?

no lps, roosterteeth, or channel awesome. abridged series and fanime are okay. must either be in english or have english subtitles, other than that any language/country of origin/genre is fine. doesn't have to be on youtube but must be free/cheap. either animated or live action are fine.

examples i like: filthy frank, monster high/ever after high, the onion, dr. horrible

something that's out to entertain and deals mostly with power struggles. it can be about the shitty minutiae & mechanics of government (see veep), or grappling for a throne (ex. nirvana in fire), i'm flexible. i just don't want any more grim-dark protagonists staring dramatically into their shotglasses at the end of the day because of the heavy burden of rulership. books and shows are both fine.

Abstract or artistic anime that makes you think. Think Evangelion, Lain, Tatami Galaxy, etc. I've seen Kaiba but really wasn't fond of the art style.

Canons with villain protagonists (or villains that aren't the protagonist but get a significant amount of focus). Bonus points if said villains aren't entirely redeemed but also aren't entirely heartless-monster level (basically, a villain that is still a villain but would be capable of developing positive close CR in a DWRP game setting...)

Any medium is fine.

Maybe my furry is showing, but are there are other canons with the charm of Redwall? It doesn't have to be set in that time period, and action is preferred over SOL. I just want cute animals living their lives and maybe having adventures.

I've already read/seen Watership Down, and that's a bit darker than what I'm looking for.

authors i've liked: china mieville, joe abercrombie, grrm. if it has elements of Weird or otherwise goes at genre tropes i'll probably be into it

I'm looking for something with complex characters and interesting relationships about people who are in their mid-20s or up. Nothing really about kids. Sci-fi or modern day is good, bonus points for LGBT+ characters but not required.

Basically, I am really interested in something with a lighter version of the tone of Black Mirror but not anthology because I want to pick up a new character.
