that moment when you get a new castmate who is a good character but is almost always played really really badly (people glossing over the horrible shit they've done, making them out to be infallible and super cool, never accepting consequences for their ic actions even though they're huge assholes ic).

and you want to give them the benefit of the doubt and believe they can do a good job with the character, but then their ooc intro is full of typos of very simple words and they end half their sentences with tildes and emoticons.

how worried should i be? the rest of our cast is amazingly good for the canon we play from and i don't want that to be ruined, but someone who comes across as this immature should not be playing a character who's done the kind of shit this character has done, there is almost no hope of them portraying it respectfully.

it depends on your area and the con in question but generally people are a lot less handsy than they were in the 90s/early 2000s, at least in my experience

I'm looking for some advice, anons. I'm in a game that's ending soon, and after it ends, I'd kind of like to app into an ECATS game. Some of the premises look interesting and/or cute, from what I've seen.

This would be all well and good except I feel like you kind of need to be in ECATS already to have any luck apping into ECATS. Am I entirely off-base?

(Also, what is this ice cream ECATS game, it looks cute but the google is failing me when I try to find it...)

Hey there anon! First of all, for the ice-cream game you're interested — it's not a game, it's a musebox — and it's free for all. If you're not sure you can hop in, I suggest asking Celi directly (if you see a plurk about it, just ask right there). A few people who expressed interest in the planning stages have never been on a single ECATS game, and they're welcomed just fine.

As for apping into ECATS games in general, that's also something not to worry about! I don't know about CFUD, but the other two games open right now (Kyriakos, Aather) have newbies pretty regularly. The ice cream musebox doesn't require an app at all though, so you don't really need to write one either.

Does anyone have a good recommendation of a custom illustrator who'd be willing to read a lesser-known and pretty long fairy tale in order to be able to do the illustration? Most of the custom artists I've found either stick to well-known stuff (DISNEY PRINCESSES AS RUGRATS CHARACTERS! HARRY POTTER CHARACTERS AS DEEP SEA FISH!) or just do more generic atmospheric stuff.

by 'custom illustrator' i assume you mean an artist who does commissions? If so, couldn't you just... tell them the scene you need? In detail? With your words? Why do they have to read the thing to be able to draw the thing? I've commissioned fanart of obscure fandoms that the artist knew nothing about, and so long as I was descriptive and linked the few pieces of official art that existed, everything turned out fine.
