this feels like a childish complaint but i've always been sad that since i've started rping nobody has ever wanted to ship any of their characters w/ mine lql

it's not the end of the world or anything just disappointing. if i want romance in rp i've always had to play canon characters already in a relationship/part of a popular ship or i have to end up in a pair the spare situation (if you've never been in a pair the spare situation it's a v lackluster)

maybe i'm totally misunderstanding what i see and other ppl struggle as much as i do save for a few instances of luck. i don't go in w/ specific ships in mind and i'm all for letting relationships build slowly and naturally but that never seems to work out for me. other ppl seem to have an easier time getting their characters to click instantly.

i just thought it was statistically impossible for it to never work out for me lol

why do people use very well-known characters for the PBs for their OCs

I mean, I get that using an actual character from an actual canon is a convenient shortcut for an OC. I don't even mind if the PB is well-known if they're playing exclusively in an OC-only game, or a game where that character wouldn't be allowed. Like how people in that Super Robot Wars game use non-mecha characters for PBs.

but when i see someone on bakerstreet using a ridiculously well-known character as the PB for their OC, I just get so confused.

maybe that style of character fits their oc best? maybe they aren't in whatever fandom the pb comes from, so they don't know how popular they are. i've done this twice, anon. once for an oc and once for a book character that i needed a pb for. i wasn't involved with either fandom but i had people thinking i was playing the character the icons were made for instead of my oc/book char. i didn't know they were popular when i picked them and they still fit what i was going for in terms of look and 'action' in the icons. it happens.

smut memes are always a hit and miss but they've been becoming more of a miss lately, imho.

honestly your best bet is to keep an eye on smut game threads on WG or here for people looking to play out particular kinks or post to them yourself and hit them up with a sock.

what i do is just join smut games and hitting up people i'd be interested in RPing and have similar kinks during CR memes.

The comment above reminded me of a fucking annoying ass shipper my friend had to deal with once. Everyone else was doing our thing and some of our characters got into ships.

Annoying Ass makes a post looking for "a ship" and wondered if anyone would be up for it. None of my friends in that game knew her characters that well and weren't that into the idea. We'd seen her RP with people before and she had some character friendships but that's all we knew. We felt felt bad so one of us sacrificed one of our characters for it. It was low priority for them. Annoying Ass noticed this and flat out asked if they liked RPing with them. My friend was honest with them about it. They didn't hate it but they didn't like it either. Annoying Ass told them it was best they stop then because "It's not that much fun if the other person isn't having fun." My friend tried to explain it was to be nice. No one else paid attention to her post and that's why we wanted to help out. No good deed and all that.

I actually don't see the problem there. Wanting the other person to actually have fun roleplaying and not treat it like a chore doesn't conflict with looking for a ship and wondering if anyone would be up for it.

Sounds like your group designated her as That One Friend from the get-go and were predisposed to despise her regardless of what she did or said.

My game tags are all done except for two which are dull as fuck and I can't think of any good replies to reply with. I could tag into some new threads but I'm holding out for a planned log that's going up tomorrow. I threw a couple of top-levels and tags around bakerstreet, no replies yet. My plurk timeline is quiet, people going out and about and doing some fun Saturday evening things.

I guess I could canon review or something but eehhhh I'd feel better doing something a bit more productive... what extraneous RP things do you guys do when the tag well runs dry?
