I'm a little surprised by the reactions it got too.

They even said it's not the end of the world but still a little frustrating. Somehow this turned into treating them like they were obsessed with shipping and unable to function in RP without forcing a ship on other people. It feels like kneejerk reactions to someone venting.

if it helps you sleep better at night to think only a bratty entitled little shit could ever sympathize with someone who very well could have accidentally come across that way, then i won't try to stop you from thinking that.

i'd much prefer to offer my assistance and if they want it, roleplay with the person so they'd feel less awful, than criticize them for feeling the way they do just because of some words they decided to use in attempting to get their point across. it's more productive and makes me feel like less of a heartless asshole.
