Is anyone playing from or thinking of playing from this?

I am interested in playing a character or two but I can't decide how to best to handle Trust in a game scenario. Obviously, most powers gained via Trust would be nerfed by game rules or by causing it to drop to 0 but Trust also accounts for some character traits like Ghostblade's muteness and Nice's OCD that one might want to maintain. Anyone else thinking about how to deal with this?

"You are the Interloper. You are not part of nature's design."

Singillatim is a Post-Apocalyptic Survival game heavily inspired by Hinterland Studios' The Long Dark, set on an alternate earth on remote island territory cut off from the mainland and rest of the world, in the vague, furthest reaches of Northern Canada. Gameplay focuses on character development and character stories, with survival / post-apocalyptic themes, and some supernatural / folk horror thrown in for good measure. Characters are de-powered, with chances to gain powers within the game setting. There is no network. Characters find themselves transported from their home worlds and stranded in a wild, empty world of eternal winter thanks to strange geological/geomagnetic shifts which has effected nature and man alike. There's no escape. Only the Auroras can signal the comings and goings of this place, and they may be both a blessing and a curse to you. Create groups for survival, scavenge for supplies, learn the harsh ways of mother nature (now warped by the Aurora's power) and survive. But for games that only have events every other month, what kinds of things do players enjoy/need between events? okay no, i wish i were tbh. i'm actually just crawling back to rp after a million-year break, so i'm looking for maybe 2-3 solid threads i can focus on extensively as i dip my toes back in. preferably psls that can be sustained for a while and get tagged with just enough consistency that our old bones don't turn to dust between replies.

to facilitate that, i bring a few (very open) scenarios i'm looking to maybe play out. for all of them, i'll most likely play an iconless OC so i'm not forced to canon-review, but you can play whomever from whatever your heart desires.

⋆ idea 1: the witch and the amnesiac hero
the cursed forest has always been a part of the kingdom. so the story is simple, really -- aren't they always? the forest houses an evil witch. the hero is sent to slay it, hailed a savior of the people. but what happens when, instead of a witch, the hero encounters something else? something that nearly kills him, and by the time he wakes in a modest cabin, in the company of his savior, he no longer remembers anything. who he is, why he's here, whether he has family and loved ones or not -- these are all questions he can no longer answer. his kind host offers to let him stay, for as long as it takes for him to regain those memories.

⋆ optional ideas we can include: the witch is the one who stole the hero's memories for (insert reasons). the hero is also the king's own son/daughter. the witch and the creature the hero encountered are one and the same, or connected in some way. the hero's ancestors had ties to the forest and the witch that have been forgotten by history. dispelling the curse actually requires a sacrifice (or two). everyone who's ever gone into the forest is still there, only turned to stone / into trees / insert other magical forest shenanigans. other generally fucked up dark fairy tale aesthetics.

it is only spoken of in hushed voices behind thick walls, but everyone remembers it: the stormy night 20 years ago, when the kingdom's most prominent noble family was accused of treason, their property seized, their mansion burned down, and all family members put to the sword. what far fewer know, however, is that one, a mere young infant at the time, actually survived. and nowadays, the rumor mill at court is far more concerned with the mysterious, charming knight of unknown origins who just got admitted into the royal heir's personal guard. a tale of bitter justice is about to unfold... or so you might be tempted to think, but what if the situation is far more complex than either of these two people, who were far too young to comprehend much back then, could ever expect? and is it right to take the life of good people to retaliate against bad ones? is someone who does so truly any better than those who hurt them, or have they become a twisted mirror of the very thing they hate?

⋆ optional ideas we can include: i know i said "treason" but the crime can be anything: sorcery? heresy? tax evasion? i'm down for whatever. i also said "personal guard" but it can be a servant or a tutor or a doctor or whatever else too. someone in the family did actually commit a crime but not all members of the family knew, including the ones currently alive. there was no crime but it's all a plot by a third party still poisoning the court even now, that our characters can discover together. the king does actually have tyrannical tendencies and has been growing more paranoid over the years -- the prince (or princess) is not even safe from his suspicions either. age difference if you want it, aka the prince/ss can be older or we can skip the princely status altogether and mr. or miss revenge goes directly for the king/queen. i'm also down to gun for any kind of ending, from happy "the family's name is restored and honored via marriage into the royal family" to absolute disaster everybody dies and/or is miserable forever.

probably not what you expect from the title, but... an immortal (of your choice - fae, vampire, witch, demon, angel, deity, etc.) finds an orphaned mortal child on the verge of death, and on a simple whim, saves them and takes them in. as the years pass, the child grows until they eventually become an adult, and for the immortal, who has lived for so long they're no longer sure they can discern the meaning or value of any kind of bond, it becomes increasingly difficult to understand the nature of their relationship. is it family? friendship? inertia? how did any of those even feel to begin with? the mortal, however, has far fewer doubts: their feelings progress from innocent adoration to a shameful crush, and eventually to full-blown one-sided(?) love. which, now that they're grown, they're very determined to slowly get across to the object of their affection.

⋆ optional ideas we can include: losing the ability to experience emotion is baked into the immortality by default, so re-learning how to feel could actually kill the immortal -- they've never mentioned this to the mortal. either party wanting the mortal to be turned immortal as well, while the other is opposed. a heavier accent on the "family" part and how conflicting that is with the idea of romance. ??? idk i honestly don't have much more for this one other than "it's complicated" (mentally).

⋆ idea 4: vainly i seek among those pallid roses
steeped in war, the history between the two kingdoms is long and bloody. but finally, under new leadership, the hope for a long-awaited peace has appeared... or had, until the diplomatic envoys sent by the neighboring monarch go missing mysteriously almost as soon as they cross the border. with no trace or clues as to what happened, the investigating knights and scholars are stumped, even as the clock ticks dangerously closer to another war. that's when the crown prince has an idea... a desperate idea that involves bringing out a dangerous criminal, an assassin who once made an attempt on the king himself, from the darkest corners of the dungeon. unfortunately for everyone involved, this assassin has a rare power, the only reason he was never executed: he can draw forth residues of memories from inanimate objects he touches, making him the only one who might stand a chance of discovering a trail to follow. under the prince's direct supervision, of course.

⋆ optional ideas we can include: lots of mutual hate to begin with. very long trip through the wilderness with just the two of them. escape attempts that need to be thwarted. murder attempts that need to be thwarted. unresolved sexual tension (violent edition). emotion or memory sharing (via the assassin's touch-based power). the opposing kingdom never intended to make peace in the first place and the "envoys" spirited themselves away to begin with. and/or as an addition, this is a trap laid out for the prince to fall into. assassin lies about what he finds for a while just for fun so there's a bit of a wild goose chase until the prince starts sussing him out. drama, like arranged marriage being part of the peace deal for the prince, and/or finding out the assassin was a member of the opposing royal family to begin with. i'd say "shitty mind games" but that's not optional actually, it's a must for this one.

this is the best day of The Student's life! they've just graduated top of their class from the most prestigious academy in the capital, which also comes with a guaranteed position in the government. or at least... it was supposed to be that way. until they step into their home that evening, to the sight of blood all over the floor, and in the middle, someone's lifeless body with a figure hanging over it. the figure lifts its face, and much to The Student's horror, it's like they're looking in the mirror. the murderer is, without a trace of a doubt, an identical copy of themselves. terrified, the student flees the house even as the city guard begins to arrive, not knowing what to make of anything. but just as they believe they've shaken their pursuit, in a dark alley, a stranger blocks their path. just as they're about to panic again, however, this stranger says something: "i know you didn't do it." they're the investigator assigned to a series of incidents they believe this one is connected to, and they intend to get to the actual bottom of this no matter what.

⋆ optional ideas we can include: the student has an actual twin they didn't (or did) know about who's been doing the crimes. the incidents are part of some political intrigue or coup d'état. the crimes are targeting genuine bad/corrupt bureaucrats. living together at the investigator's house (or in a hideout of some sort). disguising the student as someone else / the opposite gender. bureaucratic nonsense that needs to be bypassed. improper/illegal use of magic or of fantasy tech. doing crime to fight crime. one character having a "the ends justify the means" mentality and the other feeling strictly morally opposed and wanting to do it the correct, lawful way.

I’ve learned to budget, cut out of my life a money pit relationship and got my finances in order this year. Despite some very expensive maintenance and some monthly bills doubling due to decisions made by my country’s current leadership, I’m still coming out on top and saving again. It hasn’t been easy but the impact on my mental health has been great!!
