Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Given the hints dropped so far that Trust and Fear don't work quite the way people think they do, or at least have very major finger-snappy asterisks, I think it's plausible to say that getting yanked to a game results in the Trust value essentially freezing rather than disappearing. In a case of depowering, I'd treat those enforced traits more like quirks built into their identity, rather than powers. Like vampires or whatnot, they still have to deal with their character-defining traits (or benefit from them, in the case of certain talking dogs).

Logical explanations aside, I think that works better for character presentation too. A chatty Ghostblade or a scowling Smile just feel out of character, even if that's totally supported by the game mechanics and strict read of the power system. Breaking out of the enforced identities is always a Big Deal, which I think is better suited to a character arc in game rather than just happening as a consequence of appearing in-game.

That's the take I'd be using as a player or a canon-aware mod, at least!
