someone in my fandom won't stop nitpicking the fact that sometimes animation isn't consistent in the shitty anime we like

speaking of gaming culture, someone on a forum i frequent made a post asking for people to list "good" gaming news resources because apparently all of the popular news gaming sites are "in bed with corrupt individuals".

i don't follow gaming news, so i have absolutely no idea what the hell they're talking about. they won't specify, either, citing that they don't want to start a flame war. anybody have any idea what gaming news drama they could be referencing? i'm curious but i don't even know how to begin looking this up.

some of you nancy drew anons reminded me of years back when i had treasure in the royal tower as a young kid. it was my favorite game ever but i remember being SO STUCK at a certain part of the story. i put had to put it aside for months out of frustration until i finally picked it back up again out of nowhere and started acing all of the stuff i previously had difficulty with AND I WAS SO CLOSE TO SOLVING THE LAST PUZZLE IN THE HIDDEN PART OF THE TOWER until my mom came in and broke the cd. (that was my bad. i was so into the game i didnt do anything else haha)

i forgot where i was going with this but im so sad i never got to finish this game. i was really in nancy drew hell as a kid (i read all of the books, all of them) and i'm glad you guys reminded me of this

what would you do if someone used your pictures/info to catfish someone and the catfishee tried contacting you since "you" deleted your account and they wanted to keep in touch with "you"? apparently he's smart enough to tineye/google the pictures after "i" disappeared but not beforehand to make sure the person was legit

a catfish used my first name and pictures and the guy who got catfished thinks i'm just trying to give him the cold shoulder because i guess they had a fight or something? how do i tell this dude that he got tricked when he won't fucking accept it? he's madly in love with "me" and will not let it go

i don't care if someone is using my pictures because i've accepted that the internet is full of "free content that i can use for whatever i want" but it's not my responsibility to console this dude because someone pretended to be me

what do you do when you have no ability to become independent without help (i.e. can't drive, no job experience, mental health problems that cost on average $500 a month and without that you cannot function at all) but the environment you're stuck in is so unhealthy that you cannot take steps to get those things done because the people you live with are constantly doing things that cause major setbacks

like i'm talking doing things they know will send me into panic attacks, doing things they know are ptsd triggers for me, guilting me for costing so much money when without it i'd probably end up dead within six months, constantly passive aggressive when they have more control over my life than i do, never have time to help me gain vital life skills but have time to sit and marathon entire series on netflix, don't bother to hide the fact that they think i'll never accomplish anything, etc

like some of this is my fault because i don't push nearly as much as i should but jfc how do i get out of this situation i want to actually have my own life at some point

i ended up borrowing a certain amount of money from a friend so i could move and support myself until i got a job

recently paid them back in full now that my life is on track

not saying this is an ideal scenario but if that option is available to you you might want to consider it

but you have to accept the fact that once you're out of there you won't have anybody to blame but yourself if you can't handle your shit

i have a castmate in a game and we both want to do events in the game with our characters together, since they're characters who would be attached at the hip based on their canon points
(plus i love the interaction between them)

but my cast mate is so, so slow at tagging. any events have to be backtagged weeks behind in order for us to play together considering we haven't even finished their first reunion

as someone who's a pretty fast tagger and wants to hop around at all the new events this makes me sad but there's really nothing I can do

I feel your pain, anon. If your castmate's good it can be worth it to get the great threads, even though they're slow, but not getting to the new events because you don't know where your character is emotionally is a bummer.

There are a couple of ways to deal with this. #1 is the old standby of "communicate with your castmate and work out how threads will end when you start them," which lets you continue tagging around while you work on the thread. #2 -- and one that I use more often, because I often play volatile characters whose reactions are hard to predict and I don't like retconning -- is to pick up another character or two in the game. Keep threading with your castmate at their pace, and keep up with the new events with your other character(s).

#3 is to join a game with a bigger ic:ooc ratio so you have more ooc time to finish your ic interactions, but that's only relevant if you're looking for a game with said slower-tagging castmate, not if you're already in one.

one of my relatives is so bad with money it hurts

they have credit card debts, they struggle paycheck to paycheck (with foodstamps and gov assistance) and yet...

if they get extra money from working overtime or something they immediately squander it on something they don't need

like one time they bought a game console but didn't have enough money for any games until months later when they saved up again. sometimes they'll pay more than they have and add to their fucking credit card debt or they'll try to live on ramen for a month to make up for it. last year they got a dog just because they started getting more hours and assumed it would last forever. TEMPORARILY OF COURSE, so they couldn't afford the dog after all and wasted money on dog stuff. it's crazy

it chafes my bottom when they beg the rest of the family for money and tell us that they don't get paid enough when... they sometimes do they just WASTE IT
