a large part of what makes me interested in a game is its layout and presentation

so it really sucks when I see one that seems nice and comfy but is set to default and doesn't use the site layout for displaying entries

why?

the layout of a game has absolutely no bearing on the quality of rp, the fun of the game, the sanity of the players, etc.

it's a completely shallow reason to be interested in a game.

I like coming up with game ideas and settings, but I'm doing college and a job on top of that, so I don't have time to sit down and make/run a game.

What can I do? Just drop a paragraph (or a few) in Game Ideas and make it clear that people can run with it in any direction they want? Keep it to myself? Try to find someone to mod them while I do my own thing? That last one seems like a dick move, tho.

Depends. If you want to share just for the sake of sharing just tell your plurk list or something. If you want people to actually make your game ideas ask yourself what's so incredible about your ideas that someone would feel compelled to make it for you.

I jumped too far, height-wise, and landed particularly hard on my right foot. That was a week ago - the heel still aches whenever I put any kind of pressure on it, even though it's been getting plenty of rest. There's been no decrease in pain, either. I'm seeing somebody on Wednesday but in the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions?

man i am having the weirdest glitch with dreamwidth

whenever i select a certain icon (which I REALLY LIKE), instead of using that icon, it uses my default (which is okay and pretty neutral-appropriate for anything, but isn't as neat as the icon i want). what the heck! what the heck, DW.

and it's not happening with my other icons, only that one. 8\ guess i'll re-upload it and see if that helps...

yeah this has happened to me a couple times. other people i know too. there might be another workaround (like reverting to default pic# keywords and not choosing "save keywords") but reuploading fixes it.

lmao the "foreign cuisine" we have here is so far gone from what it's actually like in its origin country it's probably a moot point

i do like mildly to moderately spicy food, but i haven't liked the indian food i've tried. couldn't even taste the food, all i could feel was lava

i don't like mexican food most of the time. too bland. the dishes taste the same to me

chinese is super greasy but sometimes i crave that grease

story time

so it's a year-end group project, and for the most part everyone in the group is doing the work they're supposed to. it's about five days before the deadline when A suddenly announces that they can't do any of their assigned work 'because of personal reasons'.

well fuck but okay, i think, because shit happens and at least it wasn't like they told us the day before the deadline. i personally have low expectations out of group work too. HOWEVER, i soon find out that A actually begged the prof to switch them out of our group and put them in a different one, saying shit about how there are conflicts in our group and they can't possibly work in that environment any longer. the fuck? we never even had an argument? every contributed opinions and we took votes, etc. etc. btw, the new group A is in is also the one with their girlfriend.

anyway, i mention to one of the group members (let's say C) that i'm annoyed and a little mad that they left like that. C then suddenly comes down on me and says that i'm childish and immature for not properly sympathizing with A, and says that A is probably have emotional problems so i should shut up. well how the fuck am i supposed to know if A never says anything and acts like everything is fucking fine???

the moral of the story is that group projects are never a good idea.

I've been anti-invited to an RP thing that all my friends are invited to, and I don't know why, and it sucks, because I really like the thing and don't know what I did to make the thingrunner ask me to not join.

you could try asking the person in charge! if they're going to ask you not to join, they should at least be willing to explain why
