Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

my guess is we need to crack down on the flaky buttpat culture. it's always been around to some extent, but i feel like within the last 3 to 5 years, it's gotten really bad.

we let people slide by way too easily without putting any effort in to their rp. plots are spoonfed to players without them putting in any work, activity is a pile of shit because no one has the motivation to actually tag, and no one is really getting punished for it.

we all just pat each other's hands and say "well, it's not your fault. maybe the game just isn't a good fit for you. you'll do better next time."

when we should probably be saying "no you're pretty flaky. you haven't finished a thread in months, you drop out of games within three weeks of joining, and you're too busy flapping your hands about your potential cr and what your character *would* do, when you should be actually developing that cr in-game."

i don't know though, i'm sure there are a ton of different factors at play here. it sucks either way.

"punished for it"

idk about you but this is a hobby for me. what you're describing sounds awful and likely to lead to even more burnout / musebox focus.
