that's because you're used to seeing DVD quality anime on non-Japanese TV

Japanese TV gets the shittiest version of an anime and they pretty it up later for DVD release, and other countries use the DVD release for their dubs

i've been watching anime for years on the internet since when it used to take a few weeks to months for each episode to be fansubbed. many of us have seen exactly what televised anime from japan looks like. you act like we don't get it straight from the source so easily nowadays within a day of it airing in japan.

no the animation for smc is just shitty in comparison to what a lot people were expecting for the remake of such a huge show. it didn't need to be perfect but it has so many flaws i've cringed through more than one scene each episode.

there is no excuse for smc to look nearly as shitty as it does

nobody was expecting perfection or even ~big budget quality~ like that one anon kept trying to argue, but it falls so far below even mediocrity it's laughable and given sailor moon's reputation it's understandable why people were disappointed with what they got

it's not a 100% flawed show by any means but the art is undeniably awful

I'm tired of being told to shut up whenever I point out the inconsistencies with their animation, and I'm not talking about in the same episode, but between episodes and only briefly because it is hugely disappointing for someone who studied animation to see nearly sideways faces and jerky walk animations from a lack of frames. The original series was beautiful and I understand nostalgia bomb, but it's a glaring flaw in something that was meant to be A Big Deal and it deserves a discussion or at least acknowledgment every now and then.
