The one bit of drama mentioned is the recent blowup, but even before that it's been known for some time that game publishers can pay money to get good reviews for their shit games published. And that doesn't even touch the bias many reviewers have about certain genres and give shit reviews to games of that genre just because they hate it. Or they hate a certain console and give its games shit reviews, etc.
