just the sort of conversation topic that comes up with friends, but it got me curious: do you have trouble using public bathrooms/otherwise doing your business with other people around?

i have a friend who absolutely refuses to use any type of public bathroom, no matter how clean (so it's not a hygiene issue). they'll literally hold it all day if they have to.

i have another friend who's fine with peeing, but absolutely refuses to take a shit in any toilet besides their own (they jump right into the shower after, which is probably why)

personally, my motto is when you gotta go, you gotta go. bring yer own wipes and practice being able to keep your butt hovering an inch above a toilet seat for minimal splash while avoiding direct contact with any surfaces.

i had no idea so many of my friends had shy bladders or that having zero compunction using public toilets wasn't for everyone, so am i just some kind of anomaly or what.

i can't even generalize because there are so many lesser annoying behaviors that fall under huge umbrellas of shittiness

but lately i've been annoyed by the people who think being excited for something or showing enthusiasm is bad. i know some people are naturally stone-faced (i'm one of them) so that's not what i mean, but the people who roll their eyes or say something snide when someone is clearly into what they're talking about or otherwise do something to take the wind out of their sails need to be slapped. like, what is wrong with them that they're uncomfortable with someone else being happy? ew.

Hey, other anons who are dissatisfied with tumblr as a platform for fandom (or, well, even anons who like tumblr... everyone, really), I was wondering about something.

I'm pretty new to journal sites and sadly missed the heyday of it all. So maybe this is something that happened before, but has anyone ever tried a non-anon meme style for fandom communities? Like instead of everyone making their own posts for things, discussion posts go up with headers for people to post fanart, fanfiction, and other fanworks under (for example), and then the rest of the post is available for general discussion. Switch to a new posts every 3000-5000 comments, and so on.

Thoughts? Do people think it would work, or is it more just that people don't want to use journal sites for discussion and sharing at all anymore?

Need some advice on something, more along the lines of what would you do if in this situation.

I rent an apartment and it's just me. I pay my rent on time, but despite this I seem to consistently get late notices after I paid my rent and have even gotten notices of eviction and requests to vacate due to not paying rent when I pay on time. The matter gets resolved with a call or a visit to the office, but it's stressful and taking up my time to have to even call them as much as I have.

Every time this happens it's always some stupid mistake from the rental office. Like one time I received the notice for my downstairs neighbor. Another time they forgot to actually apply my rent payment to my account. Another time they accidentally charged my account twice for rent, etc. This isn't a once or twice oops, this most recent time is the fifth time in the past six months it's happened. It's beyond the point of apologies and promises that it will be looked into will suffice.

The question is, what should I be demanding at this point because this has been such a hassle and keeps happening despite their promise it wouldn't happen again?

i realize it's not always easy to say 'lol just go somewhere else' like that's easy and an option for everyone, but really, look into other places if you can. this is outright shit service and you don't deserve that. i'd even be willing to file a complaint with the bbb

OOC =/= IC is important I know that, but it just feels bad when your ooc intro gets almost no comments while the other ones gets so many friendly hellos. It could be maybe my character doesn't interest them but it sure does smother your excitement for the game.

eclectic pagan, though I've been leaning towards hellenistic lately.

I have an altar in my apartment bedroom, just a small one, but it's something at least. I'm not open about it to my family but all my friends know, including my roommate. It was actually one of the first things we discussed when we moved in together (we were roomed together by the school we go to so we didn't know each other until the day we both moved in).

She actually got really into it and in turn got her mom into it, but they're not pagan so much as Christian-Wiccan or however you want to say it. It's actually pretty cool because I used to be embarrassed about practicing openly but her and her mom are really enthusiastic about it and love buying things-- and because they're generous, they buy me much-needed items too as gifts. It's really nice!

It gets a little annoying sometimes though because they're able to spend the money to buy more than I ever could since my family wouldn't financially back me with that (they got handmade wands, for example, and can afford to buy and ship things I couldn't), but her mom makes me feel so welcome to it even though I'm the one who's been doing it longest that I can't really complain.

We do rituals together sometimes or she'll make me good luck satchels to put in my bag before tests and I'll do the same for her. We pour over recipes for pagan holidays and it's a lot of fun going out, buying everything, and then cooking in the kitchen. Sometimes we get silly with it and make up incantations like we're those stereotypical witches over a cauldron and just get silly.

I don't talk about it much on my plurk or anything though mostly because I had an unfortunate experience a couple years back where someone actually expressed an explicit desire for me to not talk about it because it made her uncomfortable and was an affront to her religion and everything. Since then I've kind of kept low on it. I mention it once or twice if something happens or in my intro plurks I make a note of it but aside from that I'm p. tight-lipped on it.
