(Anonymous) 2013-05-05 04:31 am (UTC)(link)I'm on hiatus right now, but honestly I've been keeping up with reading the posts and I can't honestly say I've seen anything I'm interested in and going "damn, wish I could tag that". To me it just is starting to feel like a really long running TV show that is running out of ideas, but the creators still want to milk it for all its worth rather than just putting on a grand finale and letting it go out with a bang.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-05 06:13 am (UTC)(link)Or maybe it might just be beacause I'm not ready for the game to end yet, I like the setting and the playerbase too much to let them go!

(Anonymous) 2013-05-05 06:33 am (UTC)(link)The drafts and missions are awesome too, they give my hero-type character something to do so he doesn't end up getting depressed because he feels useless. If he ever starts feeling that way I can just send him off on a mission for a few days and have him come back all fired up again. The game feels a lot more balanced for different character types now than it used to be.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-05 11:33 am (UTC)(link)So right now basically I'm still in the game just for the little CR I have, trying to work to get new CR and get into the plot so I can have fun like in the old days but the war part of the plot bores me to no end and the parts of the plot that aren't about the war move too slow and the information is held very tightly by those who have it.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-05 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)Honest question, anon: if the war part of the plot bores you to no end, what parts of the plot interests you?

(Anonymous) 2013-05-05 11:44 am (UTC)(link)What's with people jumping the gun and going "why don't you just drop?" whenever someone expresses they aren't enjoying things the same way they used to do? Anyway the endgame isn't decided by what the players want but by the mods, the whole playerbase may want the game to go on but if the mods decide that "that's it", then it's over no matter how much we whine just as it's going to go on while they say so no matter what.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-05 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)-Apps open, IC intros start. Vast majority of intros are the same, just new characters.
-As the IC intros start coming in older characters make the random welcoming posts.
-Event or draft comes. Log goes up for it, very little happens outside the log. Vast majority of log comments are the same thing and honestly not that easy to tag unless you have plans with the character. About half of your plans will have nothing come of them.
-Apologies for what happened during event or draft then back to status quo
-Random posts from squatters to make AC that will have threads dropped once they have enough comments
-Game slows to a crawl until the cycle begins anew
And throughout toss in some random philosophical questions and mallynap returns (when a lot of the time mallynap returns end up just being intros but with the character changed in some way, usually turned into a kid).
That's really the problem. It's not that we need silly posts, it's that we need something to shake up this pattern and change it. As it stands now anything that happens is promptly forgotten a week or so later and it goes back to the same old same old. Everything just goes around and around in a circle and we return back to the same spot with little change. Individual characters may grow a bit, but overall the game is in a rut and the only overall change is really what characters are around and what ones are no longer around.
To add to this, long term characters lose a lot of CR and find it hard to gain new CR. People have outright commented here that they don't tend to try and get CR with characters who have been in the game over a year, but a lot of those same characters are the ones who need it the most.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-05 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)Unless it's a castmate or an OOC friend. And generally the excuse is that since those characters have been around for so long, nothing their char can do will really interest them in the first place so there's no reason to bother. Another excuse is that they just don't want older residents shooting down their characters' hopes and whatever by telling them all the shit they have gone through.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-05 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)have you tried? i'm asking this because i'm an older player who has never found a problem getting cr with new players and characters if i reached out to them and tagged their posts. i've currently got the beginnings of some great new cr with a couple of characters who apped in last cycle. i tagged their intros, my character struck up a conversation with theirs, and then when i posted for my character they tagged my post back.
if you show interest and pursue it, i've found that most new players are happy to play with older characters.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-06 01:21 am (UTC)(link)Maybe the problem isn't with them. Just saying. As a semi-new player myself I know I probably wouldn't be that eager to tag with older players if I'd seen threads like this before I joined.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-05 09:38 am (UTC)(link)To me, it does feel like the game changed, but it's because of the playerbase. Back when I joined and delved into my pinnacle of ultimate RP funtimes, it was alongside completely different players. Very few of them still remain today and you can tell most of them aren't as involved as they used to be either. I look at the event plotting threads and I see a lot of characters I don't know and have no CR with, but attempting to start that with all of them is something I don't have time for. Not anymore, anyway.
From my perspective, Luceti has grown too big for all of it to hold my interest. It's not a grievance to the point that I want to drop the game entirely- it's just that I always need to put thought into what I decide to spend my time and energy on, because it feels like there's too much going on to keep track of all of it.
Also, while the underlying 'plot' of Luceti does still continue, it feels like there's less to gain from trying to do something with it. I remember back in the day when the NPCs first appeared and all characters were bombing them with assorted questions. The challenge was to phrase the question just right to get new, interesting information. Nowadays, it feels to me the NPCs are just filler to introduce new events, missions and drafts.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)I dropped this game because I tried to thread with all three of the main mods multiple times and was brushed off in favor of the same old cliques. If even the mods won't make the slightest effort to tag outside their cliques, why should I stick around and hope anybody else will?

(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)No seriously, that's a very small pool you're sampling from, even if you're just talking about older players. I've been here for four years, and I have more CR with the mod NPCs than their normal characters.
Re: LUCETI
(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)i'm not denying that older players are part of the problem but come on, at least pick a better example than mods.
