Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

To add to this, long term characters lose a lot of CR and find it hard to gain new CR.

have you tried? i'm asking this because i'm an older player who has never found a problem getting cr with new players and characters if i reached out to them and tagged their posts. i've currently got the beginnings of some great new cr with a couple of characters who apped in last cycle. i tagged their intros, my character struck up a conversation with theirs, and then when i posted for my character they tagged my post back.

if you show interest and pursue it, i've found that most new players are happy to play with older characters.

I've tried. More often than not, nothing at all comes of it. Sometimes I just get the shit luck of they drop within two months. And each time it happens, my character becomes even more hesitant to reach out and get past the level of an acquaintance with someone as well because he doesn't handle losing CR very well.

then idk what to tell you. dropping within a month or two isn't something that's exclusive to luceti though, i play in two other games and trust me, the same thing happens there. it's just something that happens in rp.

every app cycle i look through the apps, pick a few characters that look interesting or that i think my character could have some fun cr with, and tag their intros. sometimes the cr sticks, sometimes it doesn't. sometimes the character drops in a couple of months. but at least it gets my character talking to new people and it makes the new players feel welcome.

this is my situation, too. it's a bad circle that's hard to break out of.

I have done that too. However, unlike in your case they rarely tag my posts or log entries back. It's always me having to reach to them to start a thread, they almost always tag back when I do that and fun threads happen, but they never reach back to my characters. So while my characters actually talk to several "new characters" on a regular basis I can't really call that CR if those people never reach back or react to my character's posts even if they are called specifically.

And I've talked with the muns OOCly, it always goes the same way "Oh so my char is being called? Ok I'll tag that!" and guess what? It still never happens. I've currently a case of having tagged a character's appointment post, having talked about it with the mun OOCly and all... And they still aren't tagging that back. And it's something quite important for MY character too but here I am, hanging, and nagging them even a bit about it bides no results and I run the risk of being called annoying because of it.

So, no. Sorry to say but showing interest and pursuing it doesn't always bore the good results it should do lately in this game. And it's frustrating because everyone's default reaction when someone says that they have trouble getting CR is exactly your "have you even tried? / maybe you're not reaching out enough? / maybe you don't show enough interest? / maybe you don't make posts that are engaging enough?" etc, etc.

Agreed with this. As of late trying to get CR in this game feels a bit like Russian roulette and the people who are getting lucky with it don't realize that many players are not and its frustrating.
