so we can talk about a thing that isn't the icon glitch:

is domestic abuse a thing that ever gets played in jrp, or is it shit to avoid? i'm playing a canon relationship that was written as consensual if super creepy, but game developments are making it less and less mutual and more and more of a lifetime movie.

so 1) is this a thing people play out long term in a way that isn't prettified? i've definitely seen some bad romance (aizen/gin, that kind of thing) but it was more focused on the romance than the bad.

2) besides warning for everything is there anything i can do to not be an asshole?

Hmm. Generally I haven't seen it played mainly due to the fact of potential triggers and/or the muns turn it into something romanced. However, I have played it out before long-term and since I detest making those things pretty (and, for some reason, I love getting into the heads of that type and figuring out what makes them tick) I'd say that it does get played but usually not in game settings.

As for your second question, I'd say tag and warn the ever-loving fuck out of it so that there's no way someone could claim they didn't know what the post(s) was about and get you in trouble.

Sexton University is not your usual university. For one thing, it is simultaneously one of the easiest and the hardest universities to get into. Unlike most universities, it is completely free; students do not need to pay a dime to get in because it is privately funded. However, getting through the interview phase is atrociously difficult since they are very particular about who is allowed in. Money and social status mean for nothing with them, and if they don't think you're suited for their kind of work, there isn't a thing you can do about it.

So what's so special about Sexton University, anyway?


Sexton University has a very different curriculum than other universities. Instead of maths or science classes, they teach subjects such as Sexual Techniques and Bondage. As you might have guessed, they are a university devoted solely to the teaching of sex.

Life isn't all sex here, however. There are strict rules concerning after class behavior and breaking them will result in being expelled. Those that do succeed in graduating, however, will find that the rewards are exponential.

To those who have, what has been your motivation for canon updating a character? I play a minor character that doesn't develop past their first appearance and the question just kind of hit me.

Canon updating is something I do really rarely (and I play major characters). Usually, I've picked my initial canon point for a reason so I tend to stick with them. When I do canon update, it's usually because I think the development from one point to the next works with how my character has developed in the RP and can enhance it. Like, if my antisocial character has opened up more through development in the RP, I update him to a similar point in his canon where he's more social, and what happened in canon gives me a few more tools to work with for his personality and CR.

I had to call out a player in my game for godmoding my character a month or so back and it turned out to be a big headache oocly. Now I see her godmoding another player's character in another thread we're in together way more blatantly. I suppose Godmoder could have received the other player's permission ooc, but the big issue during my previous communication with this person was that she NEVER said what she really meant and had to be prompted for every little thing (i.e. I'm not sure that she would take the initiative to actually asked Other Player for permission).

Do I dig more and ask Other Player what the deal is? Do I call out Godmoder again? If it isn't my character that's being affected this time, do I even have the right to butt in? I'm the only mod under two game admins in our very small, private game.

What would you do, anons?

I'd bring it up to the admins. You already called them out on it, that means they are aware that it is not tolerated and what it is. At that point it becomes time to bring up to them because it seems like this player will just keep at it.

I was in a forum game with anonymods earlier this year. That shit was shady as hell and basically an excuse for the main admin to ignore their responsibilities and do nothing but tag yaoi buttsex without getting called out for it.

I got offered a mod position because I was actually half competent at getting things done and admin was giving me all sorts of advice on how to hide the fact that I was one of the new mods... Like running the site on two browsers so both my character account and mod account could be on simultaneously. But, like, this was a game with less than ten players. She must have thought everyone was brain-dead (which for a couple players was actually true) because HER EMAIL ADDRESS WAS LISTED IN ALL OF THE FORUM NOTIFICATIONS. She tried to pretend she and the admin were two different people, when everyone who got a registration e-mail could figure it out in two seconds if they looked in the right field...

So yeah, never having anything to do with anonymods again. If you're in a game like this, anon, GTFO.

Here's an analogy for you fuckers.

You pay your cable bill for cable TV. They offer a few different levels of service, but even on the lowest, you don't watch all the channels. Some you just flick through on your remote. But you still make a choice either to buy the cable package that best suits your needs and then use it to your liking, or else you don't buy cable at all.

How stupid do you think you would sound if you started calling up the cable company to complain that they don't let you select only the channels you want to watch and pay for only those ones at exactly the price you decide you should pay for them? Do you think the cable company should make an individualize package for each and every customer, or that if they made an option for just what you want that suddenly that would be the fix-all for each different thing that everybody else might want?

This is basically the same principle as paid accounts and icons and it shouldn't be so hard to understand.

Might you wish there was a cable package that fit you like a glove and was tailor made to suit your personal needs alone? Sure. Do you throw a tizzy fit when you have to adapt to the cable packages that are available? Not unless you're a whiny, spoiled, unreasonable child who thinks the whole world revolves around them.

Businesses don't design their services based on how "expressive" your character's face is. RP is something that you do for entertainment, and yeah, it can cost money. But so does most entertainment. It ain't food. You're not going to die without your icons. And you don't go into Best Buy and start trying to argue about how there's not an option available for you to buy only the blooper reel off a movie, even if that is the only part you want to watch.

A little fucking perspective is badly needed around here, jfc.
