They weren't even all that good on LJ. Ooh, I can get an extra 5 icons on my plus account. And for just a tiny bit more I can get a paid instead and get 15.

apparently paids are a problem because they give you up to 100 icons and some people don't have enough material to fill all 100 slots?

it's like they suddenly forgot they don't HAVE to fill every slot and that the money isn't going towards only icons. there are other perks too... fucking morons

I've come to love and use the heck out of being able to pin conversations for replies and the like.

Hell, they could probably just fill them in with extra shit. Like, I don't know, pets if their character has them or random OOC icons or something. There's no law saying you have to use all of them as nothing but faces/expressions/etcetc.

I still use LJ for everything other than RP. It's not that bad. *shrug* I don't care about the redesign (I actually think it looks okay) and the tech/security glitches had reasonable explanations. The customer service is shitty, yeah, but customer service usually is. DW is nice and all, but apart from RP this place seems so dead...

I'm all for moving your business elsewhere if a company isn't providing the services you expect, but the LJ hate among RPers can get ridiculously extreme.

I'm 26, actually... but yeah, I play in smaller, slower games so I know several 30+ rpers who were very put off by the catastrophizing and username squatting that accompanied the move to DW. Some of them decided not to go to DW, and my game lost a few really good players. RP outsiders who don't follow all the anon discussions only saw a huge, sudden and often chaotic move. I've always enjoyed playing with older rpers and I dislike the way that they're marginalized and ridiculed around here. :/
