impossible to give advice without knowing what it is

been watching too many travel vlogs recently, interested in playing iconless OCs (not based off any actual online personalities please) in a modern day scenario. Want to play B in the below prompt. adding in a/b/o elements is optional, open to a lot of other kinks

A is a yter/twitch streamer with a substantial following, well beloved by his fanbase. He's openly queer and humorous as apart of his appeal. He does whatever content niche is desired, but starts to get into live streaming luxury resorts tours. A's business partner, B, serves as his manager/cameraman/producer who plans everything out. B has a really good straight-man chemistry off of A which the audience get more and more interested in. B starts making regular on camera appearances, ending up popular in his own right for being more low-key personality.

At some fancy retreat the two end up bubbling over with tension and cutting a live stream just before fucking each other senseless. This causes a lot of stir online, but the two pretend it was just a stunt/joke. Next time it happens, they fuck on live which obviously causes way more buzz and also fall out.

Constantly get feedback that I'm an incredible thread partner and a pleasure to write with, but actually getting anyone to tag me or prioritize our threads feels like spitting into the wind. I genuinely can't remember the last time someone wrote a starter for me instead of me having to ask people if they want to do something, suggest ideas, and then write the start. My open toplevels in game have consistently gone untagged, or have been embarrassingly slow compared to other threads in the same logs. My threads always seem to be the ones that get dropped or tagged absolutely last.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. But boy!!! It sucks big time!

Fixated on my newest character and super excited, so I really just want to boomerang some threads with him so I can just ride this new shiny feeling out. But since he's the typical rare character from a canon that's not very popular, it feels like no one wants to tag him. I've put him up on some TDMS, memes, and put some links to those up on Plurk so my friends list can see. I've gotten exactly one person tagging in, tag-outs aren't going anywhere, and it's just a little bit of a bummer no one else wants to play with me. Did people stop actually RPing around here when I wasn't looking?

And while I'm eternally grateful, tags from the singular person are coming in only once every two to three days, which is usually my speed as well, but not right now in the brand-new character phase I'm in.

When this happened for me playing a villain, it was a big learning experience, because two other people in the game my character had close CR with made it clear very quickly my character was just a prop for their own drama. They'd told me they would eventually repair their CR with mine only to tell me "This is too much", blatantly lying to me for months, and eventually making it clear the process to earning their forgiveness IC was going to be fruitless. Once my role as set dressing for their little two-person storyline they were playing out for the audience of the game was done, I was completely cast aside. Eventually, I got tired of their antics and deliberately blew up the CR myself because both IC and OOC it was making RP a chore and not fun.

They and others made it clear they just wanted to point the finger at mine and eternally go, "Look! The zombies have risen/someone was killed/the sun isn't shining today/I stubbed my toe and it's their fault!" Some characters held onto this mindset for literal years after the initial incident in a fashion that also wasn't fun to play out.

What got me through it all was playing with people who made it clear they were willing communicate and to work with me OOC so that we could find a way for their characters IC to learn to like and trust mine again. I specifically requested someone I really liked playing with that we not break the CR irreparably and they respected that, since their character could have really gone either positive or negative on how our CR would have gone from that point forward. Start seeking the CR you think can do that and work from there. It'll get you over the hump.

This is the longest of long shots, but I’ve been watching Veep and I’m in love with their dynamic. I think it would be fun to flesh out their relationship from what little we’re given! The rise and the fall, full of the weirdest flirting and the sharpest insults. PM if interested and I will move heaven and earth to make this happen!

i recently got back into RP after a few years. i used to be a really fast tagger and was active in 5 games with 2-4 characters in each one... but now i take up to half an hour just to type out one tag and can only keep up with a couple PSLs at a time.

who else is in the same boat?

i think a lot of people are rping, they're just a lot pickier about who they do it with

it's their tagging speed and threading pace. they simultaneously tag too slowly for it to be sustainable for me and are only interested in very incremental action and dialogue development, from tag to tag.

i don't expect them to change, but it's not something i can overcome. ime, bringing speed up devolves into hurt feelings, and i don't really want to start something.

it's one of the reasons that most people generally take pretty personally, and i don't know them well enough to gauge that they won't do the same.

adding to this, i did mention my preferences on this topic when we first started threading, so they are not unaware. i've given it a few weeks' shot to see if things improve, but i'm at the point of having to reread the thread to remember what we were even doing whenever i hit it, which makes it hard for me to galvanize my enthusiasm. no shade to them, i just can't keep up like this.

i tried the "it's not you, it's me" approach, unfortunately. i'm afraid they still want details.

i play a rarely found character, so i assume that factors into their enthusiasm.

just tell them this tbh. i've done it to thread partners before when they've asked why we stopped writing together, but do it in a way that just keeps it down to the facts. there doesn't have to be an emotional component, yall are just not compatible. they'll be compatible with someone else in the future.

just tell them. they're the one asking about it, so they only have themselves to blame if their feelings are hurt by your honesty. i doubt they will leave you alone until they get an answer.

if it makes it easier you can always frame it as "our tagging speeds aren't compatible and the thread moves too slowly for me to maintain the pace".

you will probably have to make it as clear as you can that you don't want them to try to improve. i've run into people like this and they will probably try to "fix" it just to keep tagging with you because they're desperate/clueless/both, but this inevitably won't actually fix anything because it's their personal style. you might need to be firm with them that you just don't think that threading together will work out, thank them for their time, and then stop responding to their messages or block them.

i've been trying to avoid going too in depth into speed compatibility, because i've seen both here and on plurk people react very defensively to that topic and frequently interpret it as a comment on their time management (or question your life priorities). so i admit i've just been trying to bypass it for my own comfort. but it seems as if it might be the way to go. thank you for your advice!

honestly? it's likely they will get defensive about it or take it personally. but if they're not going to get off your back without an answer, it's probably better to just tell them and get it over with rather than dragging things out with tags you don't want o write. i'm sure they'd rather you told them than just ghosted them completely

just be really careful not to make any promises you don't actually intend to keep (like saying "we can tag in the future" or "if you work on it maybe we can have a thread"), even if it feels mean. they're an adult it's not your job to manage their feelings. if you don't want to tag them, they need to understand that no means no. it's a hard lesson but they might need it.
