Aw man. I was just thinking about this game, too. At the time that it came out, I was playing a character that wouldn't have been a good fit for it, but I still really loved the feel it had. Both the game plot and the table/code work was really neat.

incensed, there are no adventure and exploration games that aren't heavy slice of life or plot heavy.

i just want an adventure where i can find treasure and ruins and fight beasts and shit with occasional events that aren't just here's the big event or here's a small shitty borderline old school crack event and they're both going to be overwhelming and intense! sigh

man i wish i could recommend prismatica to you for the latter since that's exactly how the game events work, not too big and not cracky events but

the game really isn't about exploration and adventure of the world, much more focused on character-driven intimacy

man i really wanted to run a small private game exactly like this last year, and have it based on different types of fantasy/action/rpg games. but i don't have the energy or time to mod, even if it was a small game

i got comms and everything and had plans to commission someone for a cute but simple style for them, faqs laid out, events for a good few months, quest boards, different play styles for everyone

right now i just really want a dressingroom/sandbox style game, minimal apps to keep out known wankers, no ac or check-in only, no cast caps, character duplicates/au/craus/ocs/fandom ocs allowed, chill sol game. jamjared into a deserted island, build-your-own-community, make your own adventure kind of game.

controversially i also really want more straight up au games. like a detective pikachu one.

tbh I have a game like this more or less ready to try out but the "minimal apps to keep out wankers" is my problem. any ideas on how to implement this, anon? I'm only familiar with ALL THE APP or zero app, I'm not sure where the middle line is for Just Enough App and how that would keep wankers out.

how would this work? serious question, i'm not being an asshole. in a perfect world, how would this work?

friends and i are playing one in right now and it's amazing. no pressure and lowkey. you guys just gotta make the jump tbh. it's fun.

Mostly I just want a game with a consistent tone, where that tone isn't SoL. Nothing fundamentally wrong with SoL, but it seems to creep into every horror, smut, and war game.

I think the issue is that those three genres you've named get kind of exhausting after a while. you can get burned out really easily on tons of heavy/sad/scared tags, or even lots of intense smut/kink, and end up just wanting a thread of.. idk, cooking or chatting or shopping for groceries or something. that's why SOL creeps in, nothing to do with the lack of tone, imo.

Something fantasy-based with quests, places to explore, a plot that builds upon itself and can change and flow with things that occur in game. I enjoy SOL but I want it and character relationships more as a part of a growing world than the focus.

Lovecraft cult sex game

More native AU/OC games would be awesome. I'm not into school settings but I'd love something scifi or mythological or victorian horror. I think it's fun to AU a character's backstory into a new setting. You can get some really cool crosscanon CR out of it.

I’d like more games with a school setting in general. “Your character applied to go to this prestigious school but it turned out to be a lot weirder than they thought” appeals to me more than getting magically trapped in a space station or whatever.

Something more like Little Hades. Penance brought back the hell setting which is great, but LH had the tone I'd prefer.
