Hmmm. Idk anon. I'd tag a 16 yo and I'd tag a 30 yo. I guess for me it'd boil down to personality. Ages alone are difficult, though the game does seem to be veering to characters that are... 20+ish? Not that there aren't younger ones! Seems like they aren't the vast majority though? Idk.

if you like narita in general, baccano is also being professionally translated! all of vamp was fantranslated a few years back too (it's only 5 volumes)

log horizon does fun stuff with the mmo genre (imo. it's nothing crazy innovative but it can be fun), and I can't confirm/deny rokka no yuusha's quality for myself but I've heard nice things. same for toradora (just fantranslated I think?) and legend of the galactic heroes

and if (also fantranslated) webnovels are in your wheelhouse too, I had a fun time with the other world dining hall!

tbh i think it's just one anon carrying on about how terrible it must be to not have every person tagging you immediately interested in smut, but the idea of being more welcoming to possible female characters isn't a bad idea, either, even if what we already have isn't something to be ashamed of.

is it even possible to get a "good career" (very stable, good enough pay to live comfortably off of, cares about you as an employee) without going to college?

it's really hard to talk to my parents about how the economy has changed and i can't just go get a good from the good job tree. lots of jobs sound awesome and great but they don't just hire you right after sending in an application. it's stuff we all know, but i'm curious if any of you anons have some kind of dream job you didn't even have to go to school for?

i'm also gonna add that the original Fate/Stay Night VN suffers from a lot of really suspect writing/translations. While part of it comes from Nasu's stream of consciousness style, the hentai scenes in particular are terrible-hilarious since Nasu (the writer) got Takeuchi (the artist) to write them for him. Plus F/SN was one of the first VNs I can remember that got a full translation in the days before the days of any sort of quality.

because, as you can see from the first batch of replies, rpers are very sensitive and self-conscious people.

I think it's possible, but it's not something that is going to happen right away. The key seems to be similar as it was when our parents were our age: get in with a good company, stick around and move up. It's not always easy because you need some edge to make up for the lack of degree and experience in those higher positions, but a good proven track record of performance can go a long way with the right company.

this is definitely the best advice.

also, to add on, if they start it and find they don't like it (no matter how many episodes they've watched/chapters they've read/hours they've played/etc), don't give them shit for it or push them to give it another try. accept that not every person will like every canon recommended to them.

i give no fucks about smut games and have zero plans to join one because of dumb attitudes like this, but lmao what the hell are you on

literally nobody joins smut games for gen cr. completely gen cr with no plans for shipping/smut in smut games is considered a nice extra but it's backburner. why the fuck would someone join a smut game and value gen cr over smut cr? or even really consider them on the same level? that's like joining a plot-driven psychological horror game and going "nah, i'm gonna spend my time equally between the scary stuff and cutesy friendly mingle logs. actually i think i like these parties full of pointless small talk more than the horror aspects!"

the arguments are split here and there's two discussions going on. one is that people expect smut cr in a smut game and the other is that gen cr is just as important. no one argued that gen cr in a smut game is bad, but it's not what people sign up for.

please do make female characters feel more welcome, but do it in a way that isn't luring them into the game with promises of things they're not actually going to get. because otherwise it falls into that shitty category of 'well, my bi guy totally sleeps with both genders, but i ftb all m/f scenarios because i don't like playing it out'. okay. that's nice. but when you say you're shipping with x female character, it's unfair for them if they don't get to play out smut in a smut game because their 'ship partner' is allergic to vaginas.

it's a work place dramedy but it definitely has extremely tight plotting and the characters move along their arcs at a good clip.

If you want something with more of an action/high stakes bent, Trigun, though it's from the 90s if that's an issue.

my job is one of the ones that would make most people roll their eyes and tell me to get a "real job", but the truth is that i have secure hours, benefits, 401k, 3 weeks of paid vacation a year, and i make a good bit above minimum wage. i can live comfortably by myself, and i was a homeowner in my mid-20s

i wouldn't call it my dream job, but i don't know what my dream job would be anyway. but it's not difficult and it lets me live pretty nicely so it's cool in my book
