That's my main issue with the enforcers too. Sure, everyone gets the taskboard and monthly event to play around in but they have their own special/i> taskboard that no one can see unless you're part of the group. A group that you need a special invitation from a character already in (most of which are slow and don't tag out btw) to join. Not even touching on characters that would be interested in those plots but would never join a quasi police force. And THEN the mods throw on complete control of the teleportation device to the other city with them as well.

The puzzle stuff dragged on too long but I was actually excited when I learned that it was a quicker way to get to the other city since I've been curious about that. Too bad it can't be that easy! I always wanted to have to get permission from the mods and the enforcers and the two different sets of representatives to explore one aspect of the game. Totally.

Thanks HTML.

since when do you need an invite to join? there's a sign up and you can do an IC interview but that's handwaveable

I've honestly never seen that page you just linked me. That's definitely my bad, I didn't look into it far enough. I just saw a few threads of people getting invited IC and assumed that was how it was done. Thanks for the info!

You have never, ever needed an invite to join the Enforcers. The one rule is that your character has to have been in the game for an entire month before they can sign up. That is made very clear in the game info and every single time the Enforcers do a post.

Also, no, the PC Enforcers do not have full control of the teleportation device. The NPC Enforcers are involved in all of these things too. Those notes are there just so everyone knows that there are armed guards on the site at all times. It is not necessarily the responsibility of the PC Enforcers. In fact, as far as I know, few if any of the PC group has been involved in the puzzle plot at all.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-20 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, as I said above I honestly never know there was a totally separate npc journal with all the enforcers info. There's a lot of pages of info at emp and I missed that one completely somehow. I'm reading through it now. Thanks again to whoever linked it.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-20 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It's listed as 'Special Defense Unit' in the links index, which may be why you missed it.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-20 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
to be fair that section was also only recently added

(Anonymous) 2016-06-20 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
But what if a player doesn't want your character to join the enforcers for some reason? That locks the player out of participation and movement in a lot of plots. Not every active player in the game wants to be involved in the group, but they do want to be involved in other plots the enforcers are balls deep in.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-20 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Anon, I can't think of a single game plot that was ever advertised as Enforcers only. Most of the time when the mods mention the Enforcers are involved, it's only in terms of standing guard over things, and they mean NPC Enforcers as much if not more so than the PC ones.

What plots are you thinking of that you've felt excluded from?

there are npc enforcers???? i know there is an npc police force but i thought the enforcers were pc/otherworlders only and a completely separate organization.

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2016-06-20 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
the NPC police force are called Enforcers that's where the PC version of the group came from with the idea being that Otherworlders were better capable of dealing with other Otherworlders

Sergei's title is literally "Commander of the Enforcers". The Otherworlders just make up a small division (probably VERY small considering population numbers). Edea and Bobby were both interviewed by him and report to him.

Nooooooooooooo no no no no. They have the same name. The PC branch is technically called the Otherworld Enforcers, specifically. There was IC discussion of having a different name entirely for the PCs, but nobody ever came up with anything, so they kept the Enforcers name.

If anything the PCs are only a branch of the native organization. The NPC Sergei Taciyon is the one technically in charge of the whole thing, including the PC commanders. He is the big boss.

omfg thank you everyone that clarified??? i'm a newer player and since enforcers is such a special sounding name i thought that WAS the nickname for the otherworlder's branch.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-20 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
isnt the enforcer taskboard put together by people in the enforcers and not the mods? and isnt the only real requirement to joining the enforcers is being in the game for a month? could be be mistaken

i doubt the teleportation device is going to as difficult to use as youre making it out to be once the mods want it to actually be used. if it is then that would be seriously dumb

(Anonymous) 2016-06-20 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
as someone in the puzzle group, I can confirm at the only reason enforcers are keeping watch is because the device is not yet ready to be used by the general public.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-20 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, that clears up some of my questions but it still stands... The puzzle to unlock this went up around 3 months ago and just got solved and it's still not ready for the general public? I understand bureaucracy exists in the real world but this is RP. If the mods didn't want people going down to the other City right now they should have waited to implement this event. It just kills any and all hype to have this build up, get it unlocked, and then be met with oh yeah you can't use it yet anyway.

da

(Anonymous) 2016-06-20 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
if it just got solved, how or why would it be open to the general public? it's been six days since the announcement and announcing something and then giving it some time for it to be actually useful isn't unheard of in RP. if there was no government or politics involved in the game then sure it would make sense to have it available to the playerbase straight away, but it would be weirder to ignore the fact that these exist in this game. i dont agree that it kills any hype because the mods have been building up that we're going to get more soon with the sign ups to talk to the arehtei.

i agree though that this could have been solved sooner and the document the group got for the puzzle looked ridiculous to expect them to solve. the fact we went so long without anything plotwise and what we got was something our characters could only look and stare of didnt sit well with me when it was revealed initially

Da

(Anonymous) 2016-06-20 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
it started one month as a "solve by the end of the month!" plot, and then they changed their minds and wanted to stretch things out. the puzzle itself was poorly organized and the mods would not hear any of it the first time a gdoc went up. then they refused to make it open to just anyone to look into and see if they were interested? you had to friend the account and agree 100% you wanted to be in on it, and overall it was just very closed off and vague and confusing and drawn out.

on top of that, none of this was shared with the public. they just kept saying it was still going, without any details, and after already being promised things multiple times it was easy to lose interest.

NOW if we want to get involved at all we have to go through the enforcers? how many months until something comes from this? I'm not going to get invested and wait around just for the pacing to continue like this.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-20 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
i'm going to say the main issue we both agree on here here is how long the mods actually took to have this piece of plot solved? and also how complicated the puzzle was for some reason. i still dont personally agree that any of us will have to go through the enforcers OOCly once our characters can use it and that for now they're just involved by name because they're the police force of the game and it makes sense to say they're guarding it, but PCs in the enforcers don't appear to getting anything out of this reveal.

but the mods have shown bad pacing and a lot of loose ends that make me scratch my head. there's still nothing being done about the broken crystal and this device could have been revealed sooner than 2-3 months of nothing but festival events.

the only special plot the enforcers seem to actually have is the one with the tunnels, if anything is actually going on with that.

Echoing what the person above of me said.

In addition I don't think the questioning of the Arehtei is being handled very well either. If the log had just gone up around the same time as the mid month announcement I wouldn't have had an issue but instead they're dragging out the plot again in the same way they did with the puzzle plot. An original lottery sign up! Great! A second confirmation sign up where they state they reserve the right to drop your thread at any time! Not so great. If they were worried about taking on too much work/npc threads they shouldn't have set the bar at 20 characters at the start. They manged the 7 or so that got to talk to her during the event just fine, they should have just reused that number.

^this, plus the whole point of the enforcers taskboard was to create cases that characters in the general public could notice and investigate alongside anyway

not arguing that it wasnt kind of badly implemented but an attempt was made
